Unbelievable Boat Cruise Through Laos on the Mekong River!

We took the slow boat down the Mekong River in Laos to Luang Prabang! It was an incredible adventure and things got a little crazy at one point. The Mekong River 2 Day Slow Boat cruise on the Nagi of Mekong was the perfect introduction to Laos. Along the way we stopped at Hmong villages, drank lao lao or rice whiskey, spent the night in the small town of Pak Beng, visited the Pak Ou Caves and got stranded for a short period of time on the banks of the river during a huge storm. The Mekong River is the lifeblood of Southeast Asia providing people with fish, water for crops and a unique way of life. We started our journey in Chaing Khong, Thailand where we crossed the border in Laos and took a traditional long boat cruise.

    There are many ways and many types of boats on different sections of the Mekong and they are all going to be an adventure.

    This was quite the adventure, which I've never heard of before. I'm not surprised that after several shots of whiskey, things would begin to change haha. I really enjoyed watching :)

    It was such a fun adventure. We visited Laos back in 2014 and returned so we could take this boat trip. Thanks for watching!

    Loved the Mekong River cruise. It was awesome. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Maybe someday I’ll get to cruise the entire Mekong!

    These videos show me where my parents come from. Not Luang Prabang per se but Laos. Your narrative is educational.

    Nice video. What an excitement especially with berthing after the storm. We were going to go to Luang Prabang from Bangkok on March 21st but the smoke seems to have gotten for the worse so we postponed our trip to mid July! I think I'll do the slow boat trip (round trip) with Nagi of Mekong too. So there will be no more slow boat tour to Luang Prabang after the hydroelectric dam is completed?

    We paid US$150 per person sharing which included pick up and transport form our hotel in Thailand, transfer assistance at the border, two days boat cruise Laos, two lunches and one breakfast, one night hotel, and transfer to the hotel in Luang Prabang. The price does vary depending on the type of hotel you want to stay in.

    This is the link for the boat we used. I really do suggest using the Nagi of the Mekong boat. There are other cheaper boats but they are party boats and overcrowded. mekongcruise.com/cruise/nagi-of-mekong-cruise.html

    March is not the time to do this. middle of the burning season. looks like a nice boat with no too many millennials on board. people in the capital hate the damming of the Mekong where they depend on for their lively hoods. all China sees is $$$.

  • @Farawaynow

    @Farawaynow

    I don’t think there were any millennials, mostly older people as this boat was more expensive than the other ones.
