@abelsanchez4696 We have known for decades that its bad to hit your kids with a belt or otherwise. BTW, I was someone who was paddled and beat and stuff. Idk if it messed me up or not but it probably wasn't necessary to get me to behave. I think hitting your kids is a crutch for a weak parent who doesn't know how to get a child to listen otherwise.

This reminds me of one time I was looking after my younger cousin while I was with my aunt in a trift store. Little girl was constantly slapping my hands or kicking mr in the nuts and my aunt was just like "she's only doing that because you're giving her a reason to, just ignore her". I was like "the hell you talking about? What kinda reason am I giving her to kick me in the nuts?". I didn't hit her to stop or anything... instead, I applied something we do in Mexico with these kinds of kids... we tell them that since they're so mischevious, a stranger will take them to their place. Little girl started crying in fear and finally listened to me, so when I asked her to stop kicking me, it worked and she finally calmed down. Some may call it "psychological warfare", I call it "properly disciplining the child without the need to hit them to understand"

@@houjisaifeddine5524 Because beating and screaming at your children IS abuse. It's especially funny when people try to justify doing shit like beating children with cables and shit or chimping out at your kid for the slightest mistake or "misbehaving". I love when people expect children to come out of the womb just perfectly matured, well-behaving people that know about everything society expects from them, when they have to learn EVERYTHING growing up. But parents who resort to discipline aren't the ones that teach their kids. They're the kind that just tell them "because I said so" and expect their kids to be quiet, obedient little pets they'll kick out into the street the second they turn 18. Sickening. My grandmother was a very kind woman and mother. My uncle to be a kind, supportive, successful man with strong morals and several children. My sister said that she follows our grandmother's example with her parenting, and her daughters are very happy, loveable children, even if sometimes a handful. Meanwhile my parents tried to "discipline" me a couple times, but it was just some spanks and yelling - it didn't have a good effect on me at all, though. It just terrorised me and made me want to hide all issues from them and LIE to them that everything is fine, because I feared getting yelled at and spanked again. And it even carried on to my early adult years, where I still didn't confide in my parents because I thought I'd be yelled at, and it caused MORE issues for me. Then it turned out that a lot of my "misbehaving" could've been caused by undiagnosed Aspergers, and my parents regretted not finding out about it sooner. And they've admitted that them spanking me was just "embarassing".

This is a perfect example of when to use physical punishment. 1.) The child intentionally causes serious damage to someone else's property, physical well being or safety. 2.) The child won't listen to reason when talked to and completely disregards any chance at sane conversation further going. 3.) The child continues the destructive behavior with no sign of stopping.

I never had to spank my kids, mainly because I was,,,, beaten far to often myself. Anyway, despite never having to spank my kids they absolutely never got away with anything. They feared being grounded and having all their shit taken away for weeks at a time. There was never a reprieve either. If they got grounded for 2 weeks they served their 2 weeks. No tv, no phone, no games, no nothing but their walls, school books, pen and paper. I rarely gave them books to read either. They could write and draw or study. Their mom insisted on giving them her old law books though as she wanted them to follow in her footsteps and become a lawyer. (our twin girls, my son was wanting to join the military) Probably why they did so well in law school.
