Umuganda is a community program in Rwanda's Northern Province in which everyone volunteers on the third Saturday of the month. The DEID-Rwanda team had the opportunity to participate. Little did we know when we volunteered that the June project involved hiking up 700 ft of steep trail carrying heavy handtools and digging trenches on the side of a mountain.
