I have one Oscar in a 180 in my office and it’s SO easy to maintain compared to my heavy stocked African cichlid tank, ha.

What type of stand substrate are you using? It looks like ADA La Plata sand. Love the Umbee!!!

I think you should consider changing the substrate to a black sand. The umbee will try to match the color of his environment will turn much darker. I think it would really emphasize his blues. Beautiful fish man!

Steve u are absolutely my fav. I just love how ur vids are simple straight to the point. I wish you had the “gallery” and made that content instead. I’ve made your inline heater and now copying your water change system. Wish I was into that umbee but sadly not my thing. But more vids please!

Hey Steve looking good... Have a recommendation. Adjust the intakes of the filters at a angle or higher or cover the intakes with a sponge pad to reduce the sand going into the filter/Motors and causing damage. Parts etc not cheap to fix these. me Dave :)

Hey Dave! I appreciate the advice. I have always tended to have the intakes as low as possible to pull in as much poop as possible. But that’s probably less important with this guy because his poop is mostly too large to fit through the grates anyway. Maybe I will move them up. Of course this jerk likes to take huge mouthfuls of sand and spit them right at the intake so I’m probably screwed either way.

Hi, Steve. It's been a while since I've caught one of your videos. I have to agree, that fish is absolutely gorgeous. This is my first time seeing him. Well done! I am moving back to central Ohio shortly, after having lived in China for most of the past seven years. I would love to do a collab video at some point if you'd be interested. I'll have to start my whole hobby over, so in the meantime I'm hoping to visit some nearby hobbyists and see what they've got going on. Keep up the great work.
