Actually Gold Ship was too smart to run as jockey asked(as like human, sometimes smart horses don't obey easily and they demand the reason why they need to do what they don't want to do) and putting his effort to be "The Boss" for things around him(ofc including humans) more than winning the race. His Jockey Norihiro Yokoyama said "All I want him is running seriously if only once in a while and being calm to not causing the trouble for staff in the stable" And some say his eccentric behavior is similar to his brood mare sire Mejiro McQueen(he was also notorious for clever and acting like the boss in the farm)

Gold Ship had a rumor that "He was one of that could read newspapers for the humen". GolShi-san is very overwhelming…
