Cliff, Stoked you enjoyed our Quick-StiX system! For shooting prone in Bipod Mode, you can actually run the Quick-Clip in the 45 degree index to get even lower to the ground! (We have a video on our KZread channel that shows this off) For removing the Quick-Clip we recommend just leave it attached to either your rifle or 3rd Leg and then remove the clip from the Quick-StiX, then you don't have any issues with throw lever clearance when moving the Clip between things and it gives you more to hold onto when removing the Quick-Clip! I've got this whole system and I had the same problems shooting prone and when I went to the 45° it didn't feel nearly as sturdy and my rifle would jump all over the place when shooting. My solution was to turn the poles over with the handles in the ground and set the height for shooting prone.

@@claudelyman9683 I gotcha. Luckily for my setup I was able to get it low enough without flipping the poles. Before I adjusted things a little bit, I was able to do that... it worked but I'm so OCD it pained me to be shoving my handles in the dirt while shooting, hahah

@CliffGray I just wanna thank you! I bought the quick stix piece a few years ago when you first mentioned it in a video. Since then, every deer and elk I've taken, and every elk my clients have shot were off my sticks. Awesome product! I'm excited for this new piece of the system.

I agree with the trekking poles to use as a shooting rest, but not as a replacement for a tripod. If you replace the tripod you lose the ability to spot and then shoot without disassembling your system. I have the pan head on my tripod and the connection for my poles, but no third leg. I don’t want to be disassembling things when ready to shoot.

I've had the quick-stiX bracket for a long time. just picked up an arca rail for the tikka t3x lite and the arca quick-clip. stoked to use it! thanks for the video.

I have every piece except the panhead, and I would have loved to have seen this video while I was researching them before buying. I hope to get the panhead in the future to complete the set.

i used the quick stix shooting sticks adapter this past season, they were freaking awesome. i geek out over multi-functional shit like this lol

Great review as always. I also had squeaking .. fixed with a little wax/ grease. Im also having trouble with the snap on attachment. I think getting my rifle set on it takes practice. And the added stability is a trade off vs natural recoil of rifle. Lastly, the reminder that i can adjust the width of the sticks is great! Thanks again!

20:00 I think one of these is installed 180 degrees upside down this creates a nice tight angle to rest the rifle on but if you flipped one of the mounts upside down, both poles would be on opposite sides of the center bolt, whereas here they are on the same side, the right side ->

Use the quick clip on our farm for turkey hunting in wi. We have a big steep ridge I’ve slid down more than once in my life so trekking poles help while not having to carry a shooting stick separately

You can interlace the loops of the trekking poles and it also works pretty well.

I have looked at this system for several years and just never pulled the trigger. I am a cheap ass. I'll look at it again real close before this season. It is real hard for me to change out systems too. My hillbilly version of this that gets me away from the bulk is a little weird but works really well for me... I use a Nite Eyz Silicone covered wire/Tie (maybe 18") and its wrapped around one of my trekking poles, then if I want to make them a shooting stick, I break them out, do a quick dally or figure 8 wrap around the 2 poles and spread them out and set the rifle in them and go. I got the idea from watching the shooting stick systems seen a lot in Africa but using the trekking poles it's just shorter but for western hunts where we are sitting more to shoot rather than standing up it works out real well. Then I went to a much higher powered Bino. I carry 18s by Maven and sit down using my trekking poles to glass off of. Even though I am in brutal dessert country glassing for Barbary Sheep I am usually glassing across dedicated canyons rather than glassing 3 canyons away most of the time and when I am Guiding Elk I usually am glassing 3 canyons away and nearer and Elk pop alot more so they get found with the 18s real well without having to carry my spotting scope. I usually now use the spotting scope from the vehicle or known glassing spots that are not far walks. I liked the review of this gear... like I said I've looked at them off and on for years and I've known about them but just have not pulled the trigger. Its gear in my wish list that I'd use extra money or bonus money for. I'll move it up in priority now....

Wiser sent me a little grease as well when mine started making noise. I love my quick Stix, I haven't made the jump to purchase the other parts of the system yet.

Great video and awesome vetting. Somehow I was fortunate to have already stumbled across the products from Wiser and have the Quick Stix attached to my trekking poles for a bipod setup and used it on last years elk hunt. For next year I added the Wiser third leg and found my own slight variation by mounting their Quick Clip on the third leg lug/attachment point. I will leave it there to facilitate quickly joining it to the trekking poles to establish a tripod. I also had to adjust the position of the third leg attachment lug. On the attachment point at the top of the third leg I screwed a generic V rest and that gives me a solid shooting rest with the ability to adjust everything I want/need to for a shot with the tripod stationary and without the weight of a pan head type item. I do lose the ability to fasten a pan head for glassing but I can still just rest (not fasten) the optic on the V. Great input on the adjustment of the Quick Stix for the bigger angle of the trekking poles. I didn’t know that either so thank you for that. If I need a low bipod height for shooting prone, I use my Spartan Javelin bipod which I keep accessible in a small zippered stock pouch and very quickly attaches to the sling stud mount Always learning and so appreciate your thoroughness.

Great video! Though, I'm biased in that i was partially sold on this system about a year ago, and it's definitely effected my system. I don't always backpack, a lot of times I'll just day hunt/scout, and I'll still use it. Anything that lightens my pack is a good thing. Turning 49 this year, ain't getting any younger, so lower weight is always good. About the only time I won't use quick sticks as a tripod is if i'm glassing directly from or near the truck. Personally, I think the quick clip is the heart of the system. Nothing works without it. I've started carrying it either directly in my bino harness, or in a pouch on my pack. I used to leave it attached to the third leg, but almost lost it that way. It somehow detached and fell onto the meat shelf on my pack. I was lucky I didn't lose it. Speaking of meat shelves, I know the meat shelf on the eberlestock F1 mainframe is debatable, but the rifle scabbard for that pack is hard to beat. It's the only pack I'm aware of that allows you to carry your rifle on your pack, and still have access to it, without having to take your pack off. This matters if your using trekking poles all the time. Which i started to do this last year, mainly because i started using quick sticks. (Has helped my knees, and my daily endurance.) Anyway, I've found that by front loading/leaning my trekking poles when using them as shooting sticks, I can quickly set them up and shoot from them, without having to adjust the height of the poles, and my rifle is very quickly accessible from my pack. It was stable enough to hit an elk at 460 yards, and I'm quite happy with it. As for the pan head, I can't afford it. Found a light weight alternative on amazon that works perfectly for glassing. I've spent so much money on gear the last few years, I have cut corners somewhere.

What alternative did you find for pan head on Amazon

I had to cut the lower padding under the handles off my trekking poles.

Counldnt get the tripod set up to work correctly, but kept the quick stix

I just got my pole adaptor and pic clip. Mixed feelings for now. Might warm up to this system? I'm only interested for shooting. Not the tripod. Where you mount the pole adaptors changes lots. Mounted too high and not enough room for Pic mount. Too low and a loss of stick height. At this point, I'm thinking I wasted my money on the costly Pic mount? It has limitations besides ease of fitment/tilt range. Does one leave it on the rifle? Will taking it on and off change poi when poles are not used? I think the adaptor to convert trekking poles into shooting sticks is clever. Most likely I will not use pic mount unless one has time to set up. Like when glassing. For now, I see my trekking poles as an on hand, at least one has something rest.

Hey @Cliff Gray - a year in, do you still recommend the tripod system for backpacking vs a standalone,dedicated tripod?? Thanks again for all the knowledge!

Have you reviewed Terry Kramer's lightweight tripod and gun mount? I'd appreciate your opinion on his gear compared to the Quick Stix adapters.

@@CliffGray Thanks Cliff - I saw his stuff at the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo in Salt Lake City this winter, but it was right at the end when we had to go, so I only looked briefly. He is out of Montana. It seemed to be an awesome, very lightweight tripod (ounces) for a small spotter or binos. He has a separate tripod called the Granite Peak and he also has a set up which converts from a gun bipod to a tripod which looked even more versatile, but much more costly. I was considering getting Terry's tripod for my Vortex Razor 11-33 (or binos) and using the Quick Stix to shoot off of when hunting with a rifle/muzzleloader. With that set up, there would be no need for a conversion at the time of a shot from the glassing point or when you have to quickly move closer. That combo is a lower total cost, very lightweight all together, and I would be more inclined to always bring at least my small spotter, especially since I usually archery hunt. However, it wouldn't work when I want to carry my full size spotter. I'd appreciate your comments as you were very thorough with the Quick Stix review.

Any idea how this compares to the Tricer GTP system?

I do on weight sensitive backpack hunts. Shane at Wiser does a great job at innovating new products and he has some new stuff out also.
