For some Sagat history. In street fighter 1 Sagat was the final boss, and for Ryu's ending, Sagat is about to kill him and Ryu hits him with a shoryukin so hard it cuts his chest and leaves a scar. Sagat promises to pay him back for the scar one day, hence him rubbing his scar saying "A promise is a promise."

Dudley is such a cool character. A boxer like Balrog, but is always so classy and polite unlike his rival.

I love how Zangief just sees Abel sad and prepares to beat him up. "Bro, you look like you could use an asskicking to cheer you up!"

One thing I do like with fighting games is the type of interactions the characters get into. They can be funny or serious, just makes it more fitting and enjoyable

the reason why Guy asked Cody to fight with him is because the both of them trained together but Cody was later framed for crimes commited by another character named Poisen and framed for another thing that Guy did

Man, the interactions for every rival is fitting for what character you play as! I especially love Akuma and Ryu’s interaction. Really shows what kind of man Akuma is!

Starting out with the dumbest reason to fight ever. Abel tells Guile to his face, "I've seen some guy do that move before." Guile asks where said person is. Abel responds: "You have no business asking me that!" First of all Abel, yes he does, because you are the one who initiated the discussion, as you made no attempt to hide your recognition of the move. Second, why is that a reason to fight? Just spill the beans and move on with your life. The upside of this interaction is that it certainly helps me remember SF4 better.

To be fair, Capcom didn't really convey the story of Street Fighter very well until Street Fighter V had a story mode. Before that, it's just bits and pieces of dialogue between some characters. With endings for each character that are limited in scope. You'd have to get the full story in supplementary material and much of that isn't all canon.

The promise between Ryu and Sagat happened way back in Street Fighter 1. Sagat got the scar on his chest because after he beat Ryu in the finals, Ryu lost control against the Dark Hadou, turned briefly into Evil Ryu, and sucker punched/Shoryuken Sagat when he wasn't looking and the match was over. This led to Sagat and Ryu making a promise to fight again when they both get stronger. Ryu when he can control his Dark Side, and Sagat when he's strong enough to beat the Dark Side regardless.

Guile has had major beef with M. Bison for a long time, it's always cool to see their heated exchange

I love the fact that many games like Street Fighter,Tekken have characters who are inspired by real life martial artists(mostly Bruce Lee), Marshall Law and Fei Long are obviously Bruce Lees in their games and Balrog is Mike Tyson

So funny thing about Rufus, while he's a silly blowhard the guy is actually quite a genius in terms of martial arts. He is somewhat self-taught and went on a journey to learn real martial arts. He then took those techniques and used them to create a martial art unique to him. He is incredibly agile and flexible and can move like a man who is 2 times less his weight. Not only that but alot of the more mature and battle hardened fighters often say that if he would just shut up and lose his ego he would actually be quite a powerful fighter.

Fun fact Gouken (Ryu and Ken's master) is Akuma's older brother.
