This video is to bring you a closer look at the Ultra Hardware 44835 Garage Door Lock.
This is comprised of many different items, but what you're seeing now is the lock body.
You extend the bolt by making the handle parallel.
Typical rim mounted deadbolt.
You can momentarily retract the bolt by lifting it up, or keep it in by bringing the handle down.
You will receive a rim cylinder with two keys (Yale Y-1 Keyway).
Cylinder collar will come with that, as well as a mounting plate.
No instructions are given for installation.
I've installed this in many overhead door conditions, and others as well but I have had to fashion my own strike.
You're going to need line this item up (make sure you're getting this nice and secure).
Mark the holes on the lock body.
What I have done is sort of made up my own template, it helps when trying to figure out where to get that hole on the back center of the lock body drilled through the door.
The tail piece on the rim cylinder is what is going to go into that plus sign hole (female portion) on the back of the lock body.
The tail is not in the center of the hole, you're going to have to lay all that out.
It helps that the trim ring is here, because that will give you a certain amount of forgiveness in terms of that hole you're going to drill.
The backset you'll be able to determine (measure from plus sign to the edge which has the bolt) and that way you'll know the distance from the edge.
You do want to make sure the hole is as straight as possible, because that tail piece needs to turn straight as it goes through the motion, otherwise it has a chance to bind.
Four screws to hold the lock body on (included).
This piece is in a sprayed aluminum finish.
We sell these a lot, replacement locks for garage doors, but I've had people install these on a variety of different items such as windows.
The length of the tail piece and screws means you will get this on an 1-3/4" thick door, probably a bit thicker too.
