Amazing how salted cod was fed to the slaves in particular yet alot of the colonial powers (The Portuguese among others) have their own recipes of how to prepare it; no one can cook up salt fish like a Jamaican; we pare it with calaloo, cabbage, bake beans and of course Ackee our national dish, what else can I say. Each household consume it at least once a week.

Are you kidding me? Never had decent fish and chips or any other delicious fried foods? ie: Donuts / Doughnuts ? KFC ? Fried Chicken? Deep-fried-Camembert with cranberry sauce? Or you mean not healthy? I reckon chips might be healthier than boiled or mashed potatoes if you add as much butter as you need to.
