The remote is used to quick default your lights back to Red when they are a different color/animation. I had the non-hatch style taillights and wondered the same. It’s just to switch to “legal mode” 🤣

It's overrated IMO, especially those rgb underglows which is very visible, looks like christmas lights to me. 10th gen type r is a masterpiece when it comes to its sporty look, doesn't need these rainbow tail lights anymore. Sorry!
