Good video! The only thing I still use masking tape for is when painting base trim in a carpeted room. I use the masking tape to protect the carpet, and take it up as soon as the paint dries. Since straight lines and bleed through are not a issue, it works for me.

Fantastic review. Thank you for doing this. very professional and lots of good data (so that i don't have to do it). My additional thoughts. let me know if you disagree: 1. FrogTape is a product line (marketing) of SureTape 2. Scotch is a product line of 3M 3. At time point 10:50 it appears that FrogTape (CP-199) outperforms Scotch (2020+) on glass, especially at 28 days, leaving no tape behind, and is lower cost than the other colors. 4. To activate the green FrogTape, wipe it with a damp rag after application and before painting by a few minutes or use a thin wetted caulk prior to paint (still wet), then remove immediately prior to drying (especially for gloss paint) as you progress (don't let any section of paint dry on the tape). 5. There is no place for thin masking tape in my garage, for any use. I will use the FrogTape/SureTape orange (CP-199) for almost everything that i dont use the FT Green on relating to paint. Buy it on sale, and throw it away when it is old. [Try using a 5 year old roll of cheep thin masking tape. It wont even unroll, and as you show, goo luck getting back off, even after 8 hrs] 6. For HD usage (not related to painting), i usually use UL listed duct tapes or gaffers tape

We used the cheap IPG tape on our windows and it was a disaster - spent an hour a window scraping off. Wish I seen this video before…

I use green frog tape for everything but I’ll use the cheap masking tape to tape the paper-on- paper overlap of floor prep.

Friendly Tip! They all copy from each other. That is why the cost is high. I purchase cheap tape and it works just fine. Cheers!
