Based on your comparisons though, S8 definitely sounds like a standout in terms of sound, design wise would be Aria, and anime girl wise variations XD

How much of an upgrade do you think the Dusk is over the Aria? I actually bought the Arias over the Dusk myself to take to Uni because the thought of losing $80 is a lot more palatable than $300 if I get careless or robbed. I can't justify having them for home use because I already have a pair of Sennheisers and a Sundara, but I do wonder how they sound.

This video is ideal, as a primarily fullsized headphone person who hasn't bought IEMs in years (when Shure and Etyomtic were still the most talked about options), Moondrop seems to be where it's at, and this will definitely help make the choice.

I love relaxed tonality. Creamy midrange with slightly rolled off treble. Hd 650 is my favourite headphone of all time. Starfield for me has that hd 650sh tonality

@@grindingoutcr1391 there's a 1 year warranty, yes. But I was in a different country from where I bought it, the shipping wpuld have been the same as buying a new pair.

How would the Kato compare to the B2 Dusk? I had the chance to audition the Aria and Kato back to back and ended up going with the Aria, as I found the performance improvement didn’t justify the extra price. I found the Kato to be more resolving, cleaner and to have more energy in the upper mids and treble. However I love the tuning of the Aria and was extremely impressed by the performance considering the price point (I should add this is my first dive into IEMs after years of only using overear headphones. Coming from Hifiman HEK, yet the Aria impressed me) What do the B2 Dusk add to the Kato?

Very well done comparo, gets to the point and brings out the differences nicely. One very, very happy owner of the Dusks here - been in this headphone game for over 15 years, didn't think a 320€ IEM could sound this pleasing, cheers!

*Is Moondrop Aria still the best IEM under 100 dollars?* I mean I am planning to purchase Moondrop Aria and I own a set of BLON BL-03 but it is *EQ'd* to be less V-shaped and more like U-shaped with better and improved mid range which was otherwise recessed out of the box and was quite bassy. I like warm neutral sound signature but not dark sounding, should not be lacking treble, forward mids, not recessed. Bass should be just right amount, neither too less nor too much. Sub bass rumble is my weakness but I don't find it much nowadays in IEMs. Vocals should have good body, forward and decent texture to it. Good soundstage all aspects including- width, height and depth. Sound should be clean, airy and open. *PLEASE HELP* Would you still recommend me Moondrop Aria knowing my tuning preference?

Imaging and staging on both are very similar in that they are both average. The aspect that makes them both amazing is the tuning, especially on the Oracle. It's simply beautiful to listen to.

I actually think the S8 has better midrange than the Blessing 2: Dusk... I'm not sure what I'm hearing but in the metal I usually listen to I feel like both of these are a bit weak for the mids in general, but the S8 is better. Whether it is actually pushing more mids or it's something from the upper treble presence, IDK. I am completely in love with my S8's but this is something that I find curious about them.

Hi Gizaudio great reviews!! I have kxxx and like the sound very much, have a few fun kz iems too, but got the earsonic es-3 for 299 on drop, heard great reviews. I do want to get either the blessing dusk or go up in price for either the dunu sa-6, variations, the Oracle or even if I can, the UA-6 pro. Based on the earsonics, what would be the logical next step? I would like your opinion first, then based on what I hear myself on the earsonics, will go with a recommendation if those other iems are too close to call. Thanks!!

Hello, i have questions about Variations, thank you for this great review. I'm using Variations for a month now with dap shanling M6 21. I feel like I'm missing the low bass sector with Variations+shanling M6 21. I'm using moondrop bort cable for the Variations that i hope can improve the low sector. Or the stock cable just better handling for the bass? And i need to use High gain for this Variations to get more bass which is consume the battery very fast. Is Variations needs high power to show its true potential? Thank you!

This might be a fit problem as I get enough bass from the Variations with the Shanling M3X. Please try to see if you're getting a deep enough insertion.

SSR is a gaming machine though because of the lower bass you can hear the higher pitch footsteps during crazy FPS games.

I've been using Shure SE215. Compared to that, which set is suitable for me. I'm afraid i choose something wrong than end up with a set less performance than my current Shure SE215.

The SE215 is VERY bassy with thick mids and very reduced treble. None of these are going to sound remotely similar. My recommendation is to buy an SSP and see if you enjoy the general sound, and then if you like it get the Aria or Stardust (IMO the looks of the Stardust are really great). From there you can decide if you want to jump to the bass and clarity of the B2:D or S8. For most people I think the B2:D is a great balance of sound quality and price.

So where does the Moondrop Kato stands among all these?

Is the tuning on the S8 better than the Variations? I read that the tuning of the Variations is referenced from the Dusk. I like the bass of the dusk but I find the dusk lacking resolution and all the technical performance as compared to the variations. Will the S8 be worth? Or should I just buy the variations. I like tuning of the Dusk, is the S8 tuning the same? Buying soon.

In terms of tuning the S8 is closer to DUSK, Variations is slightly bit different most notably in the lower midrange. If you like the DUSK chances are the S8 is also a good buy. In terms of S8 VS. Variations, Variations has better details, tuning for both are very good in their on way.

@@Gizaudio Thanks for the prompt reply? So you are saying that the technical performance (Soundstage, Imaging detail retrieval) is actually better on the variations than on the S8? And S8 has a tuning and tonal balance in the bass mids and treble closer to the dusk? I actually just sold the Blessing 2 Original version today, I need more sub-bass and the 3Khz (Shout) is quite strong on some tracks in my library. My main genre: Anisong. Most masters from that genre can be quite sibalance (6khz), I can actually endure 6khz peak but the 3khz "Shout" of the blessing 2 is a little strong in addition when the sub-bass is lacking below 200hz. I prolly need 2db more of 200hz and below. I got a feeling the Dusk is going to solve the tuning issue, however I have the budget for the S8 and Variations. Should I just go with the Dusk? To be honest, the BL03 tuning seems to fit me best, never get tired of it. Is there any totl recommendations with similar tuning to the BL03? Max budget $700

I have a review of Hana 2021 that goes into a quick comparison of it vs. the moondrop offerings. But in summary, the Hana 2021 has more treble energy than the moondrops. Blessing 2 vs. Oxygen, Oxygen is basically the Hana 2021 but better, so it has very good bass and good treble energy, blessing 2 is more neutral with lower bass but more natural and balanced tuning than Oxygen.

I've tried Rai Solo, they are flat as hell and only good for specific task like music production editing. For music listening, go for Blessing 2 dusk.

Have the Solo, decent set but nothing worth talking about. Rai Solo FR is pretty odd, there is a huge 4k peak and a hard roll after that. (Almost no IEM is tuned like this.) The end result is a darkish sound with a forward midrange that is sometimes shouty. It's honestly a pretty wonky tuning on paper, but it strangely kinda works. Wouldn't rec given the amount of competition in the sub $200 price bracket. I'd take the Kato and Timeless any day of the week over the Solo.

Based on everything I've heard about the Variations, those are the ones I'd get if money wasn't an issue

Try the geek gk10. Man. I was socked. Even in high volume that iem responds perfect. Most iem in high volumes the highs are to high. But this one. Perfect. 50 bucks with est. I was shocked. Fit is ok. Not great for gym or runs because when iem have a short nozzle and they have a flat body. They pop in sweat conditions. Apart from that. Perfect

I'm not a huge cable expert, I go for what's comfortable mainly. And from experience cable didn't change sound for me much if at all.

I bought the moondrop ssp around january and was hoping for an upgrade. After waching this video it seems like im not going to upgrade anytime soon, maybe until I can afford the blessing 2
