I personally really like the addition of striders over lava boats. Yeah, maybe it's a bit less efficient, but it's so cool as a fantasy element to the game. You're in the fiery depths of hell, riding atop a lava-swimming beast, all while having to give it a little nibble of food each time you want it to take you somewhere fast. Also, it provides a solid explanation on where piglins get their string. Overall a much cooler and more immersive feature than a simple lava boat. Thank you for all your MineCraft videos! I always find them very helpful :)

Now that bastions are a essential part of the game, striders became a lot more useful

If your aiming for netherite equipments, then yes. U need smithing template in order to craft netherite tools and armors. And smithing template can only be found in chests in Bastion Remnants@@lukastimmler1682

Fun facts: 1. Striders can spawn with a Piglin riding it. 2. Taking a Strider to the overworld and ride it on lava for a long while you’ll get an achievement.

Thank you for producing this video. I'm having a hard time locating a nether fortress in my playthrough so I wanted to turn to Striders as a way to explore areas that felt inaccessible unless I created sky bridges but the Ghasts are too much of a threat. So, I tried out striders as an alternative a couple weeks ago and I must've accidentally dismounted in the lava w/out realizing it because I thought I fell off for going in too deep, so I just gave up and never tried it again, but this video gives me hope!

@@darellarocho5729 The nether has changed drastically as well as the end, and all the new biomes like deep dark. Also the villages have changed too, having different buildings, professions, raids, etc. New items such as shields and elytras, the ocean monuments are also new to me despite being an older update. Its been ages

I can never bring myself to use them as I don't want to take them out of the lava and start shivering. I honestly would have preferred fungal plank boats.

This video was amazing, it gave me the idea of building a strider farm with some few animals in the nether

too bad you didn't mention the moss carpet trick. putting moss carpet on top of lava makes a walkable platform in which striders stay warm

While I was riding a Strider in my game, I tried to check my Coordinates (I'm playing java) and I'm using a laptop so to see it I had to press SHIFT+F3 while I was in the middle of a sea of lava in the nether forgetting that pressing shift will dismount you from the animals your riding on. I lost my enchanted armors…

That's very interesting I didn't know they took more damage from powder snow but also I didn't know they were initially like amphibious. I mean technically they are even without the tongue and stuff but still like I never thought they were supposed to be like frogs

You forgot the most important information about them... They're cute (ugly cute if you will) and they CHIRP, it's basically a frog bird cube! Also they will not leave lava pits so if you have one in the overworld and just give them a roof that's like 1-2 blocks larger than the lava pool, they will stay out of the rain. So you can build your Strider enclosure in any biome even with the risk of rain. Just don't take it for a walk or carry a warped fungus nearby 😅 (I have a pool of like 10 of them under my ocean monument base, they have a staircase so they could be walking out if they want, but they never do)

I always hated using striders cuz i need the saddle back but at the same time i dont want to kill them

I honestly don't mind having striders instead of lava boats. Using it just feels like the Nether, the way you dont get to be in an enclosed boat but instead sitting on top of a block with certain death surrounding you is similar to how it feels when bridging over lava in the Nether. It fits the feel of the Nether very well.

Video suggestion. A 1.20 ancient city update. I’ve noticed that in 1.20 ancient cities have a few different things that didn’t used to be there, especially skulk sensors that spawn waterlogged.

I noticed that in bedrock Cuz I was like sometimes the striders wouldn't show up when I wanted them so you're telling me that they're both passive and so they count to the mob cap? But that doesn't make sense because the hoglin is a hostile mob so that's weird

Too bad there are Ghasts. Striders would be decent way to cross lava oceans but Ghasts would bombard you (and the Strider) all the time. And that would be extremely bad in the middle of lava ocean! Yeah you could use invisibility potion but it's always an extra step. Also, it would be GREAT if you could always mention how to get all advancements that are associated with the thing you are making the video of. I struggled A LOT with the another advancement where you basically need to build a 50 block straight lava strip setup in the overworld to be able to get the "Feels like home" advancement. Also, you need to CLICK to get "This boat has legs" advancement when riding. First I was wondering why it didn't work.

Striders can also spawn with a saddle naturally spawned on them. I saw one in my world once

How do you do that with the boat on the lava? You can extra jump with that? That looks like a weird version of a clutch. It would make for a very interesting parkour

Question, if you are on a strider in the middle of the lava lake in the Nether and a Gast or other aggressive mob attacks you, can you select bow and still be astride the strider, or will putting down your fungus on a stick make the bugger kick you off?

Thanks so much for the info; striders are great! One still unanswered situation for me is what happens when riding a strider and you encounter a ghast? I don't want to ride one until I know the risk. Does the strider provide any immunity or do you just have to kill the ghast as quick as possible? If you you get hit with a ghast fireball does it knock you off of the strider? This is a big concern.

You wont get knocked out of the strider, it will only take damage (normally not much). In java, you can put the fishing rod in the shield slot and a bow in your main hand to kill try to kill the ghast. A safer option that also works in bedrock is just to press right button with the rod to run away when you hear the ghast cry

I didn't even know the strider could do that. They could just climb up the lava. Here I was getting off The strider with my fire resistance and going up myself. It's slow but it definitely is effective

My strider disappeared on the overworld, I thought it despawned, time to make a tombstone 😢

Yeah I know that the saddle can only be gotten back if you destroy the strider. They should have been able to unequip like with a pig or a horse

You’re rewarded with the very useful string to guide your next extremely expendable and cute Strider! So sweet. “So how does a Strider attack you back?” They don’t, that’s how loyal they are!

Am always burning in the lava when i ride them. Is there a difference on what version im playing that does that? :/ Or am i just gonna have to use fire resistant potions?

If you get on/off them to ride when near or on soul sand that usually will make you ignite even if your not in the lava due to the soul sand hitbox

Hello Eyecraft. This paragraph is not related to this video in particular but more of a request of your channel overall. Have you ever considered doing guides for the Bedrock (Windows edition)? Now, I know you are a Java player and so are many other players. But by far the biggest player-base is on Bedrock due to it being available on many more platforms than just PC. It's kind of disappointing when following one of the best KZread channels for guides (your channel), just to find out that one guide doesn't work for Bedrock after already spending a lot of time following steps you have listed etc.. Would it be possible for you to make a second channel or maybe a separated playlist for your guides that work on Bedrock? Since there are no other YT channel like yours out there with the same quality. You would gain a lot of subscribers and views if you decided to do that.

About that... :/ Minecraft wouldn't call it that I'm sure, but in reality the stick is to hit the animal :( Both the carrot (or in this case, warped fungus) AND the stick are 'motivators' as it were. Also that makes more sense for the reduce of durability, rather than "I'm leaning down to feed it the tiniest 1/100th nibble of the mushroom" (and, like, 3% of a mushroom when it's getting down to super low difficulty doesn't seem like a reasonable motivator to me lmao) But also I didn't even know this was a function in the game until now, so hey, that's cool!
