For a compact kit, it sure wastes a lot of space. The headlamp should be around the bag on the outside. They have a lot smaller headlamps and even some that are USB chargeable. By placing it on the outside you don't have to get into the pack to charge it when you're in your vehicle or it's at your house. You can adjust the headband to where it fits snug over the main body of your fanny pack and slide it to the side when you're getting in and out of the bag. The other waste of space is having that big Compass inside the bag, that bag will fit on the waistband belt of the bag, and be easier to get to. The mylar blanket is junk and should only be used as a shelter, only I didn't see any cordage, maybe I missed it but I didn't see it in the bag. It would be really easy to have some Bank line all set up to use with the mylar blanket to make a shelter. I would use the gorilla tape, on each corner and use that as tie off points. The fire starting kit was a little light too all I saw was Strikers, there should be a lighter in there they make a little plastic case to put your Bic lighter in so that the button doesn't get pushed down and everything leaks out it can even go on a keychain. Also it's way more efficient to use cotton balls and Vaseline then have a bulky bag with natural Fire Starting material considering you're out in the woods and can get natural stuff on the fly anyway. Also that Gathering bag is way too bulky and wastes space. There are plenty that are available that fold up and snap together and makes its own little pouch that don't weigh anything and you can put that on the belt of the fanny pack as well. I would rather use all the space inside of it for more important things. Or use a smaller fanny pack. By removing the headlamp and putting it on the outside you can bring a solar battery charger to recharge your headlamp, or the proper size batteries. As much space as is wasted you could put a hand fishing kit in there for all the room it takes to keep the compass on the inside. In the summer you're not going to want that mylar blanket even as a tarp as it will reflect your body heat down on you. You're better off getting something else that doesn't reflect Heat. Or at least a one-sided reflective mylar blanket so it can reflect the heat coming down away from you but not your own body heat back down on you. I know they make them in camouflage and I'm pretty sure they make them in other colors. You can also get a drinking bottle that comes equipped with a filter straw that will actually filter out even heavy metals and pesticides on top of the microbes and viruses. You can still boil with it if you take the lid off which you pretty much have to do anyway. I mean whatever works for you but seems like you're wasting a lot of space to me. You can also take an old eye drops container and put bleach in it. A few drops of bleach purifies water, and can also be used to kill germs in or around a wound if you dilute the bleach a little bed with water and put it on a bandana. I'm not suggesting you put a lot of stuff on the fanny pack belt, unless you're trying to look like Batman. But your flashlight and Compass are no big deal.

Needs mosquito repellent and put high visibility tape on fire steel so you can find it at night.
