I am a leather repair professional. DO NOT IRON OR STEAM LEATHER. - high heat shortens the life of your leather. Leather is 98% collagen protein fibers that that begin to suffer damage at 145° F. It is permanent damage that causes the fibers to shorten and tighten. An iron on the cotton setting is 150°to 200° F and steam is 212° F. The short-term results come at a long-term cost that you may never connect intuitively. But the fibers you subject to heat are the area that is subject to the most stress from bending.

Very impressed - especially with the crease removal process! Any advice for me? I want to potentially dye red full grain (or half grain, I can't tell!) soft 1980s leather lace-up boots from a dull straight red to an oxblood colour. Here in the UK there is an array of dye products to pick from, but I think perhaps a stain would be better than a vinyl dye, which only covers the leather. Is there any prep I should do? Appreciate any advice.
