When you walk into the bank, and they recognize you as that coin guy. This is where you want to be with your banks and tellers. I even bring in a big bag of candy for them around xmas every year. Be courteous and polite to all the tellers, and they might even surprise you with a nice find. It's only fair to at least have an account with each bank that you purchase or dump with. Whatever denomination you decide to hunt, learn all you can about varieties and errors in that coinage. I am still watching for one of those 1982 no P dimes or a Henning nickel. Needle in a haystack, but fun to search for.

I started last August with $100.00 with quarters. I've been treated very well with my teller ( it helps that she has known me for 50 plus years. Once I've gone through my rolls and if I'm short, I fill them with the left over quarters from my recent pocket change). I'm still learning. It helps having a magnifying glass, coin roll plastic tubes. So far I've came across about six 1976 qtrs, my oldest so far (I think) is 1961. When my pockets get full of change I'll put them aside untill the container gets full, I'll separate them down and eventually wrap them and turn them in. Glad to meet you Quin.

Another Coinstar tip is that a lot of people forget to check the return slot... Not only does it kick out crusty and stuck together coins, but any denomination that it's not programmed for, domestic or international (dollars, half dollars, Canadian, pesos, yen, rubles, etc.). Occasionally, they will also knock out silver, as the weight is slightly different from common circulated coin. Just a little while back, I found $2-3 in Collectors Edition Silver State Quarters in the return. My first thought was that someone's Grandma is going to be mad. 😂😉

Thanks so much for all of the positive feedback! Before I made this video, I found myself over-explaining a lot of parts of my videos and people would complain that I was repeating myself. On the other hand...there are a lot of newcomers that don't know what I'm talking about if I don't explain! Don't forget about the newer Sacagawea dollar coins! They started minting them in 2009 and are still today. There's a new design each year depicting Native American life. They're fairly common but are still very cool. I believe the mint stopped making them for circulation in 2012, but you can still find them at banks. This also a good coin to fill up your books, if you get the chance to find them.

Great video. Just want to add a few things. After 1964 some proof sets were made with silver quarters. I have found several of these counting down drawers or when I got a change order from the bank. The rim is always the trick. It's either Canadian or a circulated proof. And second. If you go through a ton of coins, personally I like to go to Coinstar to turn them in. If you exchange them for an Amazon, Home Depot, or Lowes gift card it's zero fee. So for anyone who shops there(so pretty much everyone) it's easier than re-rolling.

I have been CRHunting for over 10 years, mostly do half dollar boxes, $500 per box. I have had as many as 26 boxes in a row of nothing silver. Then may hit silver out of the next 5-10 boxes then back to nothing for many boxes. It is a hobby, nothing anyone is ever going to get rich doing, but I find it fun. Good information on this video....
