So many mistakes, accidents & failures in races, you never knew what was going to happen. Drivers didn’t play to social media every 5 minutes either. Don’t know if it’s because I was 17 & had my whole life ahead of me but I loved this time.

Depends, very attractive looking, nimble cars and multiple driver/team title fights but traction control, grooved tires, turbulent air (arguably due to said attractive cars and refuelling strategies which hurt the on track action took away a lot as well. Unlikely to happen, but if F1 returned to exactly this combination of cars/engines etc. it's not as though all of the current issues in F1 would simply disappear with no new problems occurring and you'd still get a lot of understandable complaints from viewers as was the case in the 2000s. There's a reason why F1 changed the aero regs, reintroduced slicks, banned refuelling and traction control and introduced DRS. I think the current formula, of course problematic in its own ways, needs a few tweaks (the ones coming next year such as the next set of aero changes and the budget cap alone could improve a lot) and it will be very popular again.

That’s how the tires were back then. The tires became full slicks in 2009 I think but before it was the regulation, the tire manufacturer had to do grooved tires for F1
