Ultimate Food Guide To The LA County Fair 2024 | Top Picks And Must-Eats

The 2024 LA County Fair celebrates the medley of communities that comprise Los Angeles County with its theme Stars, Stripes & Fun.
LA County is one of the most diverse counties in the nation, brimming with a mix of cultures and communities, and the LA County Fair celebrates them all! Through song and dance, awe-inspiring exhibits and the enticing aroma of everything from corn dogs to turkey legs, tacos to red beans and rice, plantains to funnel cake, the Fair honors LA County with Stars, Stripes & Fun.
The 16-day event opens May 3. Don’t miss new attractions, the thrills of the carnival, musical entertainment in every corner of the fairgrounds and, of course, lots and lots of food.
But the main component, as always, is fun!

The LA County Fair is so different from what it used to be...but also not that different! I grew up going there all the time...my mom worked in the Admin Building for 20 years and my dad worked maintenance/janitorial there and all the racetracks in California for over 26 years after getting back from Vietnam. We knew all the horse people, all the food people...knew where all the better food was at! My first real job was working parking during the fair to pay for my college books! The 5021 train in the train museum there was driven by my grandfather who was an engineer for Southern Pacific from the late 40s after WWII till the early 80s. My grandparents address was 5021 same as that train. It is so weird now with the back of the racetrack gone and all the stables and back area gone, that was a new one for us! Over the years we saw the shaded and covered Pavillion area that used to be out front of the racetrack, gone...The permanent restaurant booths along the main strip torn down. The old fancier Clock Tower taken out (it and the area around it were in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure...which we got to watch being filmed there and saw a young Tim Burton come out and talk to all the people) The park area with the bridge and water, over near the miniature railroad used to have deeper water and massive Koi fish in it, now no fish and its super shallow. No more Monorail either, they used to have an old Monorail that went around, spent a bunch of money and updated it and screwed it up and it got removed. I was always at the fair my whole life and never had to pay to get in up till my 20s. Moved out of state and hadnt been to the fair in over 20 years...finally went again in 2019. We went to the train museum and they let us sit in the seat of the 5021 after looking it up and finding that it was my grandfather that drove it there. Going to donate a bunch of old train schedule books and other miscellaneous things that my grandfather had to them.

Oh wow! Thank you for sharing all of those memories. It is hard to watch things change over the years, even at the theme parks. Knott's, Disney, and Universal are all so different from what I remember as a kid. The Fair does seem to embrace it's history though... more than 100 years later. I enjoy walking the grounds and visiting "The Hill." Fairplex is so different and unique compare to the other fairgrounds in SoCal. Looking forward to visiting again this weekend!

Hi! Thanks for your video, I just decided to go to the LA county fair tomorrow and I'm excited, I've never been! Food looks good and can't wait to see what else there is. I was wondering, do you need cash in the fair or can everything be purchased cashless? thank you!

There are numerous BBQ locations. In total, I believe there are nearly 140 food locations. This preview was just a small sample. There's a list of locations on their Value Menu brochure. www.lacountyfair.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/LACF-Fair_Value_Menu.pdf According to the Fair website, "Outside food is allowed but no glass, metal or hard plastic containers." But... I HIGHLY suggest trying the food options there. Everything we have tried over the years from various vendors has been really good. So many thing to try!

We highly recommend trying some of the unique and delicious foods. Some of which you cannot get anywhere else. There is also a Value Menu, with each food vendor offering an item or combo for $8.62 ($9.50 tax included). A great value and a great way to try something you've never had before!
