Excellent reviews, Ben. The waterproof pocket is such an important feature, not just for the rain, but in hot weather too when you sweat through everything! Price is decent for the capacity and features!

Thanks for this - very helpful! I've got a really old UD vest (had it about 6 years) that I love, except that it chafes my back in races. I've been toying with getting a Salomon Adv Skin 12 but after seeing this video I think I'll be sticking with what I know and trust...and I'll fork out a bit extra for the 6.0

@@BenNotley Having taken it on a couple of long runs, I really love it. Very comfortable, lots of useful pockets etc. The only area where I could see some scope for improvement is the support for the water bottles - they do tend to sag into the pocket when half full or less - perhaps a small hook to keep them available? But overall, that is a minor quibble - great vest.

Thanks Sage! Shame to hear about the lack of love for the Salomon vest. I think it's always good to try before you buy when it comes to things like a vest as it is a bit of an investment. @Steven Vanlancker the UD vest is ace. Over the longer distance it's all about comfort. I think the way the 6.0 is designed really does a great job at keeping you comfortable.

A great comparison video Ben! Certainly some major improvements on the 6.0 version there. Those zipped pockets SHOULD be accessible and I wonder why they didn’t put them more to the side than the back? Only other neg is potentially that new padding area creating more sweating on longer run’s maybe? Apart from that, a great looking vest!

Cheers Phil. I have been really enjoying running in the 6.0 vest. Yeah those pockets do take a bit of getting used to but one you know where the zips are they are accessible. I think they aren't located on the side due to the comfort cinch being separate from the back of the vest and it's not one continuous bit of fabric which connects to the back like on other vests. The new padding does run a bit hotter than the previous vest but it's not too bad and the fabrics used are swear wicking which does help. Thanks for watching mate! 😎🤘

Hey Ben! I have the UD Race Vest 5.0 and the hooks are rather fiddly and awkward, but I still love how light and breathable it is! But my Nathan VaporAir is awesome for weekly long grinds! Keep pushing my friend and Happy Holidays to you and the fam!

Cheers mate! I hope it's of use to someone. 🤞 It is a bit warmer than the 5.0 but it doesn't make it uncomfortably hot. It is only a small section across the bottom of your back and the top half remains well ventilated. 😊👍

I hope it was useful 😊👍 I have almost of respect for the 5.0 version as I did a whole training block and a 110k race in it and it worked perfectly for me during that and as I said I didn't suffer with the back rubbing issue. However, I can instantly say the 6.0 is more comfortable so I am sure it will do just as well if not better. It all boils down to how much you're willing to pay and if you value weight over comfort. Both are great packs. 😎🤘

Thanks for checking out the video! There is a load of space in the Ultra Vest. There is more than enough space for any 100 mile race. It might be too small for multi day events but it's perfect for most ultras. I hope that's useful buddy! 😎🤘

The vesta is the women's version. It has slightly differently shaped chest straps and comes with some different colours. Other than that they are basically the same. Hope that helps. 😊👍
