That S7 tool steel camshaft is pretty dang tough! We've broken enough cams over the years that we run only the best cam materials on this engine combination, and from the camera footage, it's clear the camshaft did not contribute to the block failure!

I'm thoroughly impressed with the extreme effort that you all put into competing. Those PDD transmissions held up amazingly. I know you'll be back Todd. Can't wait to see how strong you come back next year Josh.

Y’all have something really special going on at power driven. I’ve worked at 3 performance shops here in Oregon and have been looking for the kind of team culture you guys obviously have. All of you guys are obviously devoted to the craft of diesel performance for that and that only. No other motives, just trying to be the best with the means y’all have. You guys are luckier than you know. You’ve got something unique going on.

Yea I really like to watch both these channels really great information..I can remember when 600 or 700 hp was a big deal and it still would be if I had it lol . If I wanted to have a engine built I certainly give them a call especially the automatic builds ..I remember all of the debates and that only lightly lol on the single verse the triple disc convertor . One thing that really stands out here is the a automatic builds .. thanks for the videos from both channels

Todd does the best job blowing up motors I have ever seen. Split the block in two pieces. Fire ball covers the front. What a show seeing it blow.

We will NEVER LOOSE THEM!!! god forbid it fails there WILL be many people like myself building chassis just for "racing" which doesn't prohibit them from also being street legal. But will pass the b.s. epa crap

Without supporting the RPM act there will only be top-tier racing the entry-level is going away, current generation of racers will be the last as entry-level people cannot afford to build a one-off trailer Queen

@@daviddroescher whats wrong with a 3 axis? Does anything i need just fine. I dont need no fancy haas cnc. If it doesn't pass that means we go back to the good ole days of oh idn working lmfao speed shops and race builders will be big. A assembly line frame once designed and tested would be produced much the same as modern frames. So yea a little wait not dramatically decades as you make it out to be. I know of three shops in three different states that already have affordable frames that cost but a few grand more then factory replacements. As always! It has always takin money to race that will never change and will only go up much the same as it has sense it started back in the 50s.

@@mustangdemon87 sounds like we are on agreement on most points with the exception of entry-level racing being a car that is just a factory production unit with no modification as I starting point versus my interpretation of your side of the argument being $150,000 investment just to find out if you like the idea of racing let's face it the upcoming Generations are more into the computer games than hands on things I for one got my enthusiasm for racing through Hands-On exposure not through my well-to-do budgetary constraints I've always been the wrench Bender behind-the-scenes never the driver I'm working towards being the driver. I'm currently(5 years into a 15year goal) working on getting my daily driver suitable for Salt Flat running

Yes, big chunk of iron is lifted off the crankshaft put all kinds of stress in the frame and cage.

I'm sorry you guys are having problems, I've been down that rabbit hole myself when you reach the upper limit of the parts available at the time, but hang in there because nobody makes hoarsepower with diesel fuel like PDD that being said 3000+ hp is one build away and you will be there first.

Also while I’m thinking about it. You guys need to look into “Speed of air engine technologies” they’ve made some modifications to diesel pistons using dimpling specific to the engine and it’s flow dynamics. I think it would be more than worth it since you’re chasing down another 300 hp. They squeezed 565 whp out of a 7.3 with 238cc 80% injectors without raising the emissions of the engine from factory specs. That’s a 500hp injector with a 366sxe or 369sxe. That’s a pretty good increase just from dimpling. Apparently they’ve seen massive reductions in engine wear with them too.

Oh and time for a sigma looks like its cleaning up pretty good on the dyno run it didn't blow up and made 2700hp at your elevation.

I have been waiting for this video for what feels like forever, and there is no teardown and no failure analysis? 😢 I really hope you are making that video, really looking forward to get a closer look at that failure. Out of curiosity i'd also like to know what was up with the lifter from the first engine 🤔 Thanks for the video, and better luck next time! 😊

More will be shared on the failure along with lots of closeup pictures. We theorize the lifter failed from the #1 intake valve tuliping excessively and keeping the lifter loaded full time to where it could not recover/replenish the oil film/hydrodynamic oil wedge. The #1 intake valve was so stretched it could not be adjusted to have valve lash on the base circle of the cam.

Maybe have some custom valves made of inconel? It would be a small fortune but it’s really good at taking high stress and very high heat.

Good job guys. No risk no reward. Here's to ~3,000 next year. Might I add that I feel there ought to be a shroud or better egress path for the dyno operator. I've never been in that position myself, but it seems risky to be running right past that spinning drum/wheel right after a surprising, possibly disorienting event such as that explosion. Just would hate to see someone get hurt.

That block assembly delete was pretty damn impressive. Was that just the outright limit of the engine block and it going ejecto blocko, or something else at work? It looked like the entire rotating assembly was still bolted to the torque converter. I'd be expecting one monstrosity of a block if you were to go billet block

i’m excited to see the next project/ projects. UCC seems like it’s too much money and compromise to build one truck to do all three events. it’s cool to watch but kinda making it very expensive and not fun anymore i bet for the players. to much compromise building one platform to perform 3 different jobs. probably more fun to build two or three trucks/ cars. one for each event. use the charger for the drag race portion and maybe dyno.. and a dedicated sled pull rig. I can’t wait to see what the future brings👍👍

I believe that the backup engine had one too many hot supers that was block failure not crankshaft failure or camshaft failure or connecting rod failure do you think that it made more torque with nitrous with the new war head and that led to deflection in the block and she said nope not today boys vin diesel would have said to soon junior lol

Were you able to recover the majority of the engine parts that left the dyno? I know it's not the goal of the exercise, but WOW that was one HELLUVA explosion, You no doubt won first place in that category. Keep messing with it and you're going to be the ones that make that 3000HP !!!!!!!!!

I hope to see the truck fixed back up a shooting for that 3000hp number you were so close. At sea level with a little nitrous that first engine would of had it.

But the Godfather chassis is destruction tested. Almost a shame to build a new truck after all it has survived. Time for a billet steel block and some better valves. Clearly those intakes were going soft at the elevated temps and tuliping. How hot was your intake air temp at full boost? Got to add that value to your egt's when picking a valve material. I realize sourcing valves for the war head likely a pain because they are probably longer than the standard available car lengths. I have that trouble all the time with the big diesels. It really limits you or puts you on a long wait time for custom stuff.

Intake air temp usually peaks between 120 and 145*F, depending on water temp in the ice box and total boost commanded. We can do a short dyno hit with peak EGT all in the 1250 to 1300*F range and it will tulip the intake valves if power is north of 2500 to the tires.

There is always next year. Just prepare harder.

Didn’t industrial hit 3k plus on a chassis dunk when that truck blow up?

All the power and no chassis… looks like it needs to be stiffened way up in the rear shock extension so it stops slamming the tire into the track and thus the hop. Also try locking the tq converter at the top of first, instead of at the tq peak at the bottom of the rpm in second…

(2) 50mm JGS wastegates vented to atmosphere. Boost is controlled by regulating pressure to the wastegates to hold them closed. For example, 70 psi to the wastegate hats with max fuel delivery results in approx 150 psi total boost and 120 psi exhaust drive pressure and 1700 HP. 0 psi to the wastegate hats with max fuel delivery results in approx 60 psi total boost, 40 psi drive pressure and 1200 HP.

Why would that guy be standing in the door like that with any kind of dyno pull making over 750 HP? Anything can happen just like that….

On pc it says 10 comments and but only 9 are visible, on mobile it says 10 comments but only 6 are visible, I know my husband commented as I can see on his screen it's there but I can not see it on mobile, even when opened in a proper browser requesting the desktop site instead of the app that hides comments anyway. We can only assume he is shadow banned by KZread for being vocal about their censorship, especially surrounding thier calling his videos fake news and removing them when he was speaking about the EPA working hand in hand, or should that be bribe in hand, with corporate entities that wish to remove peoples freedom to choose what they can own and drive. Now the RPM act is a reality and is the tip of an iceberg you should probably be talking about it so we can all keep our hotrods.

You are obviously offended by something I said and are venting at me, maybe you should question what exactly about what I said makes you feel this way, and form a coherent argument that breaks down exactly what I am wrong about and why. You can deposit the cost of a round trip from Singapore to the USA and on to Abu-Dhabi to any choice of charitable foundation, but I prefer it go towards Children's hospitals.

Much can be said about pushing things to the limit, with out destructive testing we would have no idea what fails and what hp level those things fail. thus giving us a better understanding of what can be reliable and what is not. much of what the industry try's to sell are parts that do nothing to increase the reliability or performance of a vehicle and so we try to find those things so the consumer does not have too.
