39:41 The rhizomes for the clumping bamboo are spreading 8-10 feet away from the culms (But they dont produce shoots, they only absorb water and nutrients) so only watering at the bottom of the culms is why it aborts new shoots, you need to water a bigger area around it imo

Thanks, A tour is a great idea, but it would be soooo long :) I've had quite a few kings, gophers, and rattle snakes. I move the venomous ones in a cooler far away. I think there is a den nearby because I keep finding baby rattlesnakes!

Sun and heats not the issue. It’s the lack of water. This bamboo thrive in Indonesia and Philippines on 150 inches of rain. The heat and sun in Mindanao is relentless but they also get months where in pours rain every day.

I understand your logic, but the Santa Ana weather and very low humidity is a HUGE factor that these plants have a hard time adapting to...

What do you recommend for a simple screening fence. I’m looking for a clumping variety that’s about 10’-15’ tall. I live in the Bay Area.

Hi… So I spoke with Bamboo Sorcery and they said (today is 5/12/2023) their P Nigra has begun flowering and that it will inevitably die. I’m on the East Coast and my black bamboo has not started flowering yet. Has yours?
