ULTIMATE Assembly Table with Torsion Box Top and VACPAD System

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Ultimate Assembly Table with Torsion Box Top and VACPAD System…In this video, I build my ultimate assembly table...well, let’s be real...it’s merely adequate for my purposes and isn’t going to win any ultimate awards at this time, BUT, it’s a champ of a table and with the integration of 20mm dog holes, T-track and the VacPad system by Kouro’s Carpentry, I’d say it could be on the road to being in the ultimate assembly category one day. Having a dead flat assembly table is a great thing to have in a workshop when building furniture. It gives a flat reference surface when surfacing materials and during assembly . #kjsawdust #assemblytable #torsionbox

    Awesome video. Love the humor. I was wondering how you retrieve items that fall down the dog holes into the bench? And a suggestion on sanding between coats - you can use a much finer grade of paper than 200....closer to 600 is adequate to take down the rough spots without removing too much of the last coat applied and gives a nice smooth finish.

    Great video, Keith! What are your thoughts on bench dogs vs t-tracks for assembly tables? I mean, you obviously went with bench dogs. Are there more or better accessories for one or the other or something?

  • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking

    @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks David! Bench dogs and t-tracks are both great options. Although t-tracks seem to have quite a bit more clamping and hold down accessories available, they can also snag and damage workpieces when sliding materials across your bench. So, it's really a preference thing. I know some people who love the tracks and others who regret putting them in.

  • @loganpirie4387

    I thought the vac packs seemed a little gimmicky but after you showed how they work I’m definitely a believer. One question though, how did you secure the one that holds the router to the top? Love torsion top benches, I’m on my second with eyes on the third with “refinements.”

  • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking

    @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking

    2 жыл бұрын

    So, you have a couple options on how to secure those pads...there can also be a hole drilled in the other side which allows it to suck down and be secured to the bench, as well as the vacuum hole on the other side that let's you secure your workpiece.

    Typically I don't it cut the edge banding so oversized , so I will just stick a piece of 120 or 150 grit to a piece of wood and hit the edge at an angle by hand until the excess is trimmed away. Or I will hit a with sharp plane or chisel and finish sanding by hand.

    Hi. Great video. Where did you get that air compressor and how is it that it attaches to the compressor. I have one for my vacuum chamber to take out air bubbles from epoxy but the fitting makes it impossible to attach the air hose or any sort of fitting so that I can attach the hose. Weird fitting. Still figuring out my options with that but this looks direct so I’d rather go with your air compressor
