For people confused on herb runs, they take 5-10 mins for a chunk of profit, the opportunity cost is 2m gp/hr. You can't get this per hour and you need to do them as they finish growing constantly, sucks but is best money for the time before mid level bosses

All the info is correct in this guide, I just feel like min-maxing everything from the start really takes away the magic of the game. I had a ton of fun my first account blundering my way through so much content and just discovering random things along the way. Nothing wrong with it if all you want to do is end game content, but I really think someone's first experience with the game truly feels like an adventure immersed in the world of runescape. And taking away the self exploration and curiosity is doing a disservice for yourself because they are some of my favorite gaming memories. If anyone is new to the game and reads this, consider trying some things blind first! You don't have to do every aspect at max efficiently, but you're more than welcome to if that's your playstyle. Either way I'm sure people will get a lot of good info from the vid, very well put together!

I agree. I feel like the best way to phrase a grind like nex isn't to say "get base gear, do nex until max gear". It's better to say "play the game as you want and do nex when you actually want gp". If you send your average lost rs player into nex for ~100 hours I would with high likelihood guess that they're gonna quit the game. But once they know the game and have the drive and desire to endure then they're ready. Like if I was giving my buddy advise on how to get into the game I wouldn't say get max combat then straight into nex. He would think osrs is a bad game.

I did state in the video that this is how I'd personally play and that you as the player will need to figure out how to balance fun and maxing. I show Hedron in footage because she's actually someone who absolutely WILL NOT quest or do early/mid game content in ANY video game. She purely plays mmos for raiding content only. She didn't play as a kid so she had no ties to OSRS being fun to build or nostalgic. If you want to take your time and chill through the game, that's fine, this still will be relevant for you when you're ready to start pushing for GP and learning how to use Gearscape

I hate AFK content like NMZ :( When I play a game, I want to be engaged. Gnomonkey is totally right: it's not as efficient, but I personally enjoy leveling combat through PvM and Slayer. Games are meant to be fun at the end of the day! If you are new to RuneScape, the best advice I can give you is to enjoy your time, because you can never get it back. There are many different ways to achieve your goals in OSRS, so if what you are doing is boring you, look around and try something new! Don't let other people bring you down for playing the game how you want to, because they will try. Many people end up treating this game like a job/obligation and resent the time they put into the game, but it doesn't have to be that way. Thanks, Gnomonkey, for the great guide as always.

Using the gear scape site you have mentioned scythe/bandos is better dps in chambers and tob than any other weapon with torva so I would argue rebuilds are still realivant. I only checked because as a recently returned player I have scythe and bandos for tob from when i quit before torva existed. Your video made me look to see if selling my scythe for torva/blade/lance/fang would be better and it's not. The no rebuild for for t-bow and shadow may make sense but for scythe it makes way more sense to get scythe then torva peices
@GnomonkeyRS
22 күн бұрын
Torva should be one of your very last upgrades in an account period. It's extremely expensive for a slight upgrade from Bandos. That's why I don't advocate for people rushing Torva to do Nex either. If you want to camp yourself at TOB for months and months, fine, but that's a fast track way to burnout instead of just having a variety of gear that can do all content. Also, ToB is thee worst money out of all the raids right now...so that's probably the worst rebuild choice from Shadow/Tbow. Unless you also plan to grind Colosseum max eff.

@GnomonkeyRS well I have sang, bofa w/crystal, zynites, dwh, sgs, so I'm not really rebuilding. I believe cutting cheese with a butterknife, is fairly ez🔥
there is one thing mr gnomonkey missed for irons specifically and mains who play like an iron for a while: ZENYTE JEWELERY! DO NOT MAKE THE RING OF SUFFERING FIRST. its either the 3rd thing you make if you want to camp zulrah as fast as possible, last if you want all the jewlery asap, and NEVER if you dislike demonics Anguish (ranged) -> Tormented (mage) -> Torture (melee) or Ring (Zulrah ring) The anguish helps farm the tormented. the tormented helps kill zulrah. the torture is not a huge upgrade compared to the other two due to having a fury already and the accuracy probably donest matter at this point. lastly the ring if only QoL at zulrah and is overall not usefull anywhere else. i honestly wouldnt even imbue it on a new iron unless i had an excessive amount of points or that scroll from pvp arena The ring of the gods, lightbearer, or beserker ring are going to be the only three rings you use almost everywhere in the game
@selkokieli843
25 күн бұрын
From what I've learned of iron efficiency meta is that torture comes first as it's the most significant time save overall. +15 Accuracy matters. (Also str ammy beats fury so fury is best skipped and just save 2m gp for skilling). Anguish comes next, then pick up hasta on task and bgs + bandos, then fang. Suffering is optional for zammy/ bandos and is just qol for zulrah later. Torm last because mage isn't used much before occult+trident at which point you'd finally start zulrah for magic fang and bp. B-ring and lb are indeed best, though seer's new +0,5% is worth it if gives a barrage max hit for slayer. Ring of the gods is optional because sepulcher, contacts and toa give practically unlimited pray pots. These are taken from ironscape's meta from their pvm progression, slayer and general progression guides (bruhsailer guide)
@tustinbear5831

@@selkokieli843 theres a few issues with this. if you're being effecient on an iron you're getting all 3 zenytes before touching other pvm and if thats your goal then sure torutre. slayer past 91 is mostly bossing, bursting, or ranged with some afk melee if you feel like it. you want to have anguish and tormented bracelet for graardor and kril because you barrage the minions for hp for longer trips. you also have moons of peril now so gwd is not even important anymore, even for the hasta for toa. suffering is an option for bosses but what's better is longer trips which is very often limeted by prayer, not hp, when you know how to do the 4/5/6:0 methods. you shouldnt touch zulrah without a trident which means tormented is great. anguish for your ranged is a must. and again you just use moons of peril gear like eclipes armor+atlatl and blue moon armor+trident sure if 0.5% gives a max hit to barrage thats great but i genuinely dont see 0.5% dmg ever giving a max hit but if it does then you're right. however the prayer bonus from rotg or spec regen from lb are better depening on your ideal trip lengths/banking items/specs you bring ive seen a lot of info the irons in my clan have said thats just outdated or misguided and they say they saw it in ironscape's reddit. im sure theres lots of good info there but probaly only for someone experienced in the game (has a higher level main) and wants to be max effecient which A LOT of irons just arent. they get burnt out of a grind and move on without the completed clogs they need very often, for example
@selkokieli843
24 күн бұрын
@@tustinbear5831 It's nice to have a bit of debate, here's my challenge on some points. I think torture is higher priority than anguish because slayer is that much more melee than ranged. But as long as you get both first, and before toa, that's good. Based on my knowledge of the meta developed by ironscape discord and my own experience, tormented bracelet isn't helpful for barraging gwd minions as you'll have to wait for boss to spawn anyway so it doesn't end up saving time. Armor take-offs is plenty to barrage minions fast enough. A potion is more effective in the slot, a prayer pot for example if that is the bottleneck. Ranged pots become the final bottleneck though once you get the 6-0 altar-door method down and that's 1h trip already with just 3 divine ranging pots. Ancient staff/scepter though is good to auto cast while you focus on flicking minions. I agree zulrah is best done late, though not just with trident but also wait for occult torm, and 99 magic should be there too by then. Bofa only zulrah is okay too though, esp with thralls+venge. Moons of peril is very popular now, however efficient roadmap would unfortunately push it off for optional collection logging in max gear. There's fine stuff there but as long as you go for bgs, bandos comes naturally along and that's already bis melee armor. Bofa with crystal is well above atlatl so ranged setup is done too. Bloodbark is very fast to get compared to blue moon which only gives a small accuracy bonus comparatively, low enough to not be worth the long grind. Even longer if you go there early with suboptimal gear. (Same goes for barrows and ahrim's robes) I'd only recommend moons (and barrows) for fun or for those who are not up to ever do gauntlet. Newbie irons can make the most well informed decision with this in mind. Yes, this roadmap is for efficiency. Whatever doesn't burn someone out is of course best for them, but that's personal so it's not up for others to figure out. What I've learned I've read from ironscape discord and guides from there. Info spread on Reddit boosts popular opinions rather than good calculations. Hearsay is not something I'd feel good recommending. If anyone's interested, ironscape discord has been cooking up a new pvm roadmap from str ammy to max gear which includes everything in between.

@@cale2196 The plugins show you your points and purple chance (as a percentage) at the end of the raid. You can use that info to calc "purples per hour", which will let you find the best method if you assume the other loot is negligible. Just turn the purple chance percentage into a decimal (by dividing by 100), and that's the number of purples you would expect per raid. You'll also need to factor in how long the raids take you. The number we need is 'raids per hour', which is just 60 (60 mins in 1 hour) divided by your average time (in minutes) to complete the raid. "Purples per hour" = 'purples per raid' * 'raids per hour' Whatever method gets you a higher number for "Purples per hour" is the better method for you. Here's an example calculation: Method 1- 40:36 average time to complete the raid, 3.4% chance of purple Method 2- 32:12 average time to complete the raid, 2.9% chance of purple Step 0 -> Convert times into minutes (divide the seconds by 60 to get decimal) Method 1- 40:36 = 40.6 minutes Method 2- 32:12 = 30.2 minutes Step 1 -> Calculate 'purples per raid' = % purple chance / 100 Method 1- 3.4%/100 = 0.034 purples per raid Method 2- 2.9%/100 = 0.029 purples per raid Step 2 -> Calculate 'raids per hour' = 60 / raid time Method 1- 60 / 40.6 minutes = 1.48 raids per hour Method 2 - 60 / 30.2 minutes = 1.99 raids per hour Step 3 (final) -> Calculate "purples per hour" = 'purples per raid' * 'raids per hour' Method 1- 0.034 purples per raid * 1.48 raids per hour = 0.0502 purples per hour Method 2- 0.029 purples per raid * 1.99 raids per hour = 0.0576 purples per hour In this case, method 2 will get you more purples per hour, making it the better option. The one wrench with this methodology is that it doesn't take into account time between raids to re-supply and pre-pot. Methods with less time spent in the raid will always have more time lost to re-supply. To factor this in, you just need to find your average time to re-supply, and add that to the raid time for both methods. So for our example, if you take 1 minute on average to re-supply and re-enter the raid, you would use 41.6 minutes for the raid time in Method 1, and 31.2 minutes for the raid time in Method 2. This should give you a very accurate picture of the more efficient method.

once i asked gnomonkey on stream how does he manage tilting when he just got one shotted by akkha on a dolo toa stream, and he said "what am i supposed to do? we just go again" next day i did a solo 400 toa and die right away in baba and i was frustrated bc of that but took is advice and next run i finished, but got a solo purple, a fang, then went for the b2b and it was a shadow! theres gp to be made, just dont give up, dying is a mechanic of this game
12:00 lmao they are going SO HARD on that Rat Bastard
This is a useful video, and I'm glad you made it. One thing that doesn't make sense to me is the bit where you implied that strength bonus matters less for the Fang, than other weapons. Maybe intuitively it feels this way, but it doesn't seem to be the case, so far as I can tell. Neither passive actually affects the relevance of max hits. The max hit clamping passive doesn't change effective DPS (besides overkill), and the accuracy passive doesn't impact the usefulness of max hits, because max hits are only relevant assuming your hit actually lands in the first place, so increased accuracy shouldn't make them any more or less important. It is true that it matters less than it would for, say, a 4-tick weapon. And the scythe, due to its multiple hit splats. But compared to another 5-tick weapon like the Soulreaper Axe, it seems like it should matter the same. I did a few DPS calcs, and my results seem to be roughly in-line with this, but perhaps I'm missing something.

It's possible you were reiterating that the tradeoff between strength bonus and accuracy is less relevant for the fang (as in, it's not that strength bonus matters less, but rather that accuracy matters more). In which case, that's definitely true, and I misunderstood what you meant.

Yea I haven't strength bonus mattering less for the fang either when I've done dps calcs
5:52 How do herb runs make 2 mil an hour? It takes 80 minutes for one plant to grow and the avg profit from avantoe (highest atm) is 35k per patch.

its the 10-15mins it takes to do them so you get 300k-500k a herb run and can "4-6 runs in 1 hour of game time" the other 60mins of down time can be used for bossing or skilling its a very nice way to break up a grind if you need to.

With decent teleports you can easily bring it down to about 5 mins, maybe throw in an extra minute to include banking and regearing
Nice Pokémon music
PVM step one: Immediately lose 1 hour of DPS by calculating a 2% increase.
Is there a discord for finding nex teams? Especially for learners.

Preach on the early slayer being "profitable"... by the time you're grinding profitable slayer actually worth doing, you're already going to have decent gear and stats. So many old heads love to push the notion that new players need to just buckle up and grind slayer to 99. Not at all a bad goal, but killing gargoyles didn't get my account right, grinding requirements and skilling my ass off did
But who is going to take a minimum required gear guy to their trio?
@GnomonkeyRS

Our discord is full of people doing it. Most times 5-7 groups are running and 90% of them start at the bare minimum.
While you have fun with raids, I'm having fun with the rest of game and attempting quests and bosses at lower levels without needing to grind a single day.
Can someone explain 12:36 - 12:53, I can't quite get what he's saying.

Spec weapons are only 1 style. Putting a weapon outside of its native style, lowers its accuracy. The only exception is Burning Claws right now, which can do slash OR stab.

Anyone know if Gnomonkey has ever considered making a HC ironman? What is his usual answer to this question? I think it could be interesting content haha

Is it not more "efficient" for your overall time spent to get into pvm as soon as your stats are acceptable to do so, and max your stats that way? I went out of my way to do as much cox as I could way back when I wasn't max combats, but I haven't actually thought about it since then. Curious on your take.
@GnomonkeyRS

No, because you kill the bosses slower, you die more often, you lose more GP to overuse of supplies, etc. Maxing your stats in NMZ/Barraging/Ranging takes less than couple weeks, but trying to go through raids will take you MONTHS.
