@hbsh Used my 2 Ultegras today 11/09/2017 in total rain and they are rock solid. Do you even have these reels? Do you know what you are talking about? i suspect do you fuck know what you are talking about, just another, oh i don't have these reels so i am going to assume they are crap. A top hat shimano hater. These reels are the bollocks, money well spent. What shitty reels do you honestly owen without keyboard braggin

just got some also m8. my last reels were ultegra xta's and I had em 10 years out almost every weekend winter and summer, and I do mean right thru winter year in year out. they went thru every condition hundreds of times over and again, and when you turn that handle they still feel smooth as you like. hbsh don't no what he's talking about m8. shimano make the worlds best gears, reels are gears, nuff said.

I think I just got the answer regarding parallel reel shaft design which I've been in doubt since the 13 Stella released. It's to reduce line slap! How could I not think of it. It shares similar concept with FUJI KR layout, which again proves Shimano is well ahead when it comes to casting distance.

what is the different between the 14000xtd and the 14000xt-b Baitrunner. are they the same excepted for the baitrunner system

Hi Iain Can you please explain the capacity of the reducers, i have several Shimano reels with the line reducers all have marking printed on them but no one seems to know how much they reduce the spool capacity by?. Nice video looks like another great reel, and nice price.

Ian I love listening to you and your own tactics advice etc. But ref these reels I cannot see them anywhere on eBay for sale but instead the xtb model, no xtd? Why... pre order only. I ordered mine in march and still not arrived. I have a friend who works in a small tackle shop and got one set. snapped is hand off yesterday.

How would these fit on nash scopes 9ft

It’s a shame the line guard under the spool are so cheap in these I have 4 of these reels and I have had to replace the guards on all as the little arms keep snapping off. Since mine started doing it I’ve heard it more and more, I love the reels but because of this issue I’m going to have to move to a different brand. Shame really but shouldn’t have to keep replacing this.

I’ve heard this about the guards but have to say I had a set for 4 yours with absolutely no problems at all, I also use a set of 5500 xtc ci14 and have the same line guard and again no problems. I think a lot of the problems people get is due to misuse or bad handling.

I have 4 pieces of the same but for one of them the rear part which is an ordinary cheap quality plastic it is hold by a screw to the reel. That part of the plastic around screw it was just broken after 4-5 time used. The representative of Shimano said is not covered by the warranty.

How match the one I need get one

Anybody knows if Shimano have intentention to realese the 5500 version of these reel in the future?

my new ultegra 14000 xtd broke on its first fish a 29 inch striper it broke the line guard and reel locks up now but its going to get replaced....

Good reel, but there is a quality problem with line guard, one of mine broke after the third use...and it seems that I’m not alone to have this prob...

why no braid? mono is passeé

how about ci4 material?how heavy is this reel? is this better than ci4 xtb?

This reel is lightweight to the extreme its actually lighter than the technium by about 40 grams and much lighter than the xsc and the ci4 so they are giving us some serious kit for not much money for such a quality reel. The price of a reel with this spec normally sells for min £400 so that's why I just bought 2 for my sea fishing

Can anyone help? Can I use the xtd for sea fishing or do I need the xsd?

Long cast reels need a big comfortable handle to make retrieving easy...i have the older 14000 XTC and while its smoother than my Diawa Emblem Pro, the pro is far better to fish with ....these reels have shit handles ffs .

Hate to say this. Youve made this reel cheap and its not as good as the older XSC. Sorry the XSD hasnt even got a roller bearings. Big mistake as you was targeting for the beach angler.
