I don’t understand why people are always talking about how field work is not fun. If you love the flight of the disc then you love field work.

Because unlike pros most people don't have 50 of the same disc, nor people to shag discs for them.

I started playing disc golf without access to many courses… all I did to get hooked was fieldwork for the better part of a year. Just loved watching the discs fly and threw only in an open field so when I did start playing I could already throw decently far

From what I’ve gathered, most pros agree that putting will lead to the quickest improvement in scores.

I agree that "putting" is very important in helping with scoring. I do a drill that practices the "straight" shot. It is a low ceiling drill, throwing thru a line of trees that are 8-10 feet apart, with branches that are only 6-7 feet above the ground. I'm amazed that people do not like field work, I improved dramatically in one year by doing field work everyday for an hour or two

I hope most people notice the type of discs you are throwing. Looks like mainly putters and Mid's. Nice Vid Uli!

Paul, are you using different discs with the same mid flight markers? I have different stability discs i use for approaches, should I be moving the mid flight markers in accordance with their unique flight or no?

Not sure how Uli approaches it, but I do some similar drills in my field work, and actually one of my favorite things to do sometimes is set a line and try to follow the same line with a range of stabilities (and sometimes speeds) by adjusting speed/release angle/etc depending on the disc. Since the speed/angle required to throw a Zone (or any overstable approach) 200ft dead straight before crashing is quite different than that needed to throw a beat-in flippy putter the same distance, knowing the throw required for both has been incredibly helpful - now if I come across a 200 foot tunnel with a hard fade to the left, I can get the zone through that tunnel straight and have it crash left. Same thing for the opposite - if it's a gentle fade to the right or needs to land soft and dead straight, I know I can throw either a beat-in putter to fade after 200ft or a more stable throwing putter to finish dead straight after 200ft. Really helps you get to know how your discs behave outside of their "preferred" flights when you force them to do other things, as well as how it feels to throw that.

Probably won't see this Uli, but I need some advice. I'm not quite understanding distance drivers. I am either turning over nuke like discs, or I'm getting super overstables discs like the ESP Force to flat, but not holding it long enough to get it past 400-425. Any advice? Or do I need to be satisfied with distance since I am simply a casual.

Have you filmed yourself throwing (from the side and back, in slow mo)? If not then do that and see if what you feel you do right is actually right (feel vs real) and if you're doing something wrong (like swelling your wrist, having the arm raise as you're about to throw).
