UKZN law graduate celebrates great-grandmother

Today is Freedom Day and as we celebrate this milestone - we caught up with a University of KwaZulu-Natal law graduate who recently captured the hearts of social media users when a touching video went viral.
Njabulo Ntombela draped his great-grandmother in his gown and led her onto stage to show his appreciation to the woman who raised him.
eNCA’s Dasen Thathiah chatted to the pair about what Freedom Day means to them.

We cant say grandparents SHOULD step in. They have already done their part the first time around for parents. That is why this is so moving, because it is a sacrifice and because it is not owed but rather offered with love and realy commitment.

Thank you even more for blessing gogo with a gift of life that she lived to see and testify about a big special day of his grandson. It was never easy Njabulo, but you have made it this far. View your self as a hero and be proud. Congratulations 🎓🎓. Gogo, I have great respect for strong women like you. Stay blessed.
