whats confirmed is this man was a Ukraine Freedom fighter who protested through playing piano at the front of the protests. His family was killed in bombings and he chose to play the piano after finding one abandoned on the streets. Its a pretty heartbreaking story and you can read about him by searching up the Piano Man protestor

@@seankenny7799 as i recall,he lost his familly when the Crimea situation happened. I havent looked for him since, but its safe to assume he is likely gone by now...

One of the best scenes in Saving Private Ryan was when Tom Hanks, admits to his fellow soldiers that he's a school teacher. Soldiers are ordinary people, this man could have been a musician, or music teacher before he dressed in fatigues and covered his face. Whats heart breaking is in extreme situations like WWII and the conflict in Ukraine, protesting isn't enough and ordinary people are forced to fight for what's right. We see armed soldiers and we forget that soldiers are humans too (on both sides), they have lives, families, feelings and emotions. Whats beautiful for me is how this mans talents bridge that gap. It's a reminder that he is still a human, and although lost a lot, still believes in hope for a better future.

Funny thing the guy isn’t a soldier. He’s a protestor. He wears body armor and a mask as a message. Anyone can behind the mask. The only thing we know about the guy is he had a wife and kid and they both died.

To all of the people wondering this is Bogdan "The Piano Extremist". Dude lost his wife and kid and was feeling Terrible as you might expect. Then the maidan protests happened, he saw the piano and started to play. Last I heard he had a full time job playing for Ukrainian soldiers on their bases and in hospitals. He even wrote a song for a friend of his who was killed in the conflict. He has a soundcloud with various covers on. Just search "piano extremist" on there. iirc He's in the documentary "Piano" too, giving an interview

He was a commander in Nazi German army, and was one of the people responsible for a slaughter of 50.000-100.000 Polish civilians in Volhyn (most of them women and children). I'm sure Ukraine has better heroes to commemorate in the present time.

At 1:45 it really got me...its pure magic....the guy playing with his balaclava and the little girl dancing in the background. Its so touching. At some point its like you can see his soul through the small openings of the balaclava....all the humility, all the hope, all the passion and all the love. Its a masterpiece. I will never forget what I just witnessed.

This soldier is a good example of innocent souls being forced to fight a war they didnt even want.who knows how many musical and other inoccent souls are being wasted and killed in war.

A married man who has a love for piano, being made to fight battles he didn't start. He takes solace in a small moment where he can express himself again.

This is no soldier. This man is the Piano Extremist, a famous revolutionary figure whose real name nobody knows. He challenges the Ukrainian security forces, but never fires a shot. He just plays the piano and lets the haunting melodies do the work of unnerving the security forces.

It’s sadly beautiful isn’t it? A man dressed in all black, with a bullet vest, coving his face, clearly fighting for what he believes in. Agreed, Music is the binding language that universally holds us togeather.

Truly amazing came back years after seeing this video. I’m really astonished with the beauty of life even someone forged in the furnace of war and seen the stillness of death can appreciate the beautiful things in life such as music and play the piano so well. Just goes to show we’re all a complex arrangement of experiences.

The song makes me think of closing my eyes and going on a long journey. Going through memories and coming back to myself.

Background info from CNN in 2014, this guy moved to Ukraine after his wife and son died, take note of the wedding ring. He was volunteering in the revolution at the time, saw this piano in a square and decided to play, and from then on he was known as the "Piano Extremist."
