President Zelenskyy is totally correct. Elections were held in New Zealand or Australia just after the end of WWI and a vote for Prohibition had won until the returning soldiers from Europe had their votes counted and Prohibition failed. Sorry but I can't remember which country it was.

Irony is free mind volunteering for military duty, and giving up your personal freedom for the chain of command. But it's just a game. No one is safe in an autocracy. Every soldier, officer and autocrat feels that fear and insecurity. Only democracy could deliver real security. When me, you, our neighbors and our neighbor's neighbors are all fully engaged in the democratic process security not yet seen will follow. 🙏

This is quite correct. The United Kingdom suspended elections during the Second World war, meaning that the 1940 election was held in July 1945.

You need to go into detail explaining the PRACTICAL factors that make this a necessity- that your population is scattered or occupied and you do not have the financial and technological and logistical means to safely hold a secure and credible election right now. DO NOT just say "we can't vote during war time" that won't sound right to most Americans or western Europeans.

Even democratic countries out of obvious necessity postpone elections if they are involved in unavoidable wars such as the current Russia/Ukraine war because then obviously a stable situation in which to hold such free, fair and democratic elections does not exist until after the war has concluded! After Ukraine has ultimately won this war then democratic elections will then be resumed as previously! Regards, Brent Collins.
