Yes, and yet, sounds tragically familiar, doesn't it? The only difference (with the Iraq War), I remember, was that we knew it was happening, but still lied to about why. I remember the scene of footage that was in Fahrenheit 9-11 of our American soldiers in the very early days in Iraq learning (the hard way) that they were destroying the good will they had before entering the country, hiw unhappy they were about being there (under false pretense) and not wanting to be there... but it being too late. Less than 20 years later and it sounds like almost the exact same: we were told we were going in to "liberate" a country from a dictator with nuclear weapons and "would be greeted with flowers and candy" and this Russian populous and its soldiers being told they are going in to "liberate" their fellow Russians from a nazi régime on drugs committing genocide. Almost 20 years later, almost exactly the same. 😞

I'm American and I was in Ukraine when it started. I heard gunshots, explosions, and air raid sirens. So sad what has happened between these two great countries. Russia is not the enemy... the leaders are. I hope everyone will all go home to their families and have peace once again.

It is sad that a fraction of Russians support their leadership, they cheered when Russia killed rebels with air strikes in Syria drawing satisfaction from this. Russians do bear blame, not all, but many follow commands. And by the hypocrisy the German WW2 generation showed the 1968 student revolts in Germany were made to happen. Russia never had a period of self reflection. The revolution against the corrupt tsarist regime might have been legit, but the Marxist ideas were merely taken to control masses. And mass control is always a game of deception and prone to corruption

I lost my first husband in 2008, in part from heavy drug use. Days before his death, he admitted he had life long extreme guilt from mission into Italy to free US General that was kidnapped by Red Army in the 80s. He never told me what he DID, just what he was trained to do. He just couldn't cope with the guilt and had not told me for 20 years. It was not a mission he could "go to counseling" and talk about. It was a helpless feeling, realizing the depth and reason for the pain when it was too late to reverse it's course. All these years later we are still suffering emotional fall out from his slow suicide.

The Russian Soldiers clearly have no idea why they're there, and why they're attacking Ukraine. They don't want to be. It makes no sense. Russia seems to be forcing their need for ukraine which is healthy to the russian economy. More healthy to russia than to us as we use it as a steal door for their trade. Ukraine is connected to the black sea. Which is connected to many countries. Mediterranean. Red sea. . The soldiers dont understand. The people dont understand. Only russia understands because russia is the one struggling. From putin’s perspective. He sees the ukraine economy under his control as a opening door to flourish with european economics n trAde.
