Westerners have been collectively hypnotized into a simplistic dualism of we are good and they are bad. Putin and Russia have taken the place of the USSR, it's a familiar punching bag for many here. They cannot understand the truth about Zelensky and Ukraine and the real cause of this war, who truly began it and for what reasons it has been continued (namely to wear down Russia via the slaughter of Ukraine's young people on the battlefield). Same trick they did in Afghanistan in the 1980s
