You say that. But British Challenger 2 tanks I don’t think have any had any casualties in any conflict. Morden armour is often capable of being very very survivable in the event you’re struck.

Remember what General Peiper said to his officers at the battle of the Bulge, I want your men in front of my tanks. Handheld launchers would be a lot less effective if Russian Infantry was screening the tanks.

Seems to me that tanks are near obsolete because of Javelin war systems. A single person can take out a tank for far less than what it costs to build a tank. Not even factoring the immense loss of 4 trained crew members. It's like when knight's armor became obsolete because of cross bows (edit* gunpowder).

They've been pretty much obsolete since the first gulf war, they're ok against civilians or in very flat firm open ground but other than that they're a sitting duck and like you said their armour is now useless.

As a war veteran myself.These soldiers are aware that their lives could end in a split second. I am 100% with Ukraine but there were young men in that tank that will never see their moms again. War is brutal God Bless Ukraine!

If you look at the top of the screen at the very beginning you can see other vehicles further back and one appears to be firing on something. Also, it's hard to see with this cut but several seconds after the explosion you can see someone running away from the tank on fire

I'm no military or explosives expert but the blast and the contents in the debris cloud don't conform to an air lofted warhead detonation. The explosion appears to be partially conical in shape originating under the tanks left track. The initial flash (detonation) and the amount of earth that was excavated up and exited out the right side of the tank leads me to believe that it was a mine and that it was buried on the near side of the trench (from our perspective) so neither the tank driver and commander could see it. When the tank came down the slope the added weight would have easily triggered the mine to explode.

From the looks of it, this tank was destroyed not with any launching system but rather a very brilliantly placed anti-tank mine.

Tanks without effective infantry support have always been easy pickings for a well trained, motivated, well armed opponent.

Not enough soldiers to provide support to each and every vehicle. 200k Russians in the invasion force and probably alot of that is not frontline infantry. Allied forces in Iraq suffered the same issue with humvees.

@@edparas5977 Russia is losing this war. In the most humiliating way possible. So far most of the damage was done to the cities. That's the best they can do. They are losing most of the main battles. Punishing civilians by rocket artillery in retaliation.

I'm glad the Ukrainians are able to resist so well. It still saddens me that multiple young people will have been killed, war is bad for everybody. No needless death is a cause for celebration.

yeah infantry weapons are so damn efficient, the only thing infantry weapons don't work against is high flying and/or fast aircraft and against ballistic missiles

on a open field without support...yes. in medium/close range combat in city enviroment, tanks are still usefull, they just can't wander alone.

The Ukrainians are incredible, somehow surviving this horrible attack. This poem sums up the situation right before I left Kyiv about a month ago and what was to come. @

It's hard watching images from this war when you consider how the Russian soldiers are mostly very young conscripts being thrown into a conflict most of them probably don't want and can't handle, but if Ukraine doesn't defend itself they will be on the receiving end of the same treatment

Your commander saying the same. Everyone above that too, threatening to put you in jail or shoot you for treason if you don’t obey their order. Now imagine being 20 years old. Wishy-washy? This is an entire life construct that you are to change within you, during days or some weeks. Would you do it that easily? And even so, should all those less strong than you be considered fair play, no compassion? The Ukrainians are in their full right to defend themselves on their land. Why dont you put that much energy in to all the other wars happening around the world? People are dying every day to terrorist, wheres the support for mexico or Ethiopia or the other 15 plus conflicts happening right now? Humans should learn not to inch up on each other and none of this would be happening, respect the space of all humans. Ive said this months ago and no one listens. Respect space And stop having so many kids adopt or keep a limit. All that brings is more pain. This planet has an occupancy limit.

I bet this particular tank crew didn't "asked" to invade Ukraine because grunts have no saying in starting an invasion but to do as they're told, and even they were wishing and eager to invade Ukraine, we'll never know for sure. If they did, then yes, they got what they asked for. I bet if they'd have had the chance to actually "ask" for anything, it would've been to go home, assuming they were normal, sane people, and not war junkies. With that been said, the tank crew that rolled over that civilian car some weeks ago, if they get blown to oblivion, (and I hope they will if they're not dead already), they would have truly got what they deserve and ask for. Otherwise, to me it's just another day in the office for the Russian invaders with the potential to kill innocent civilians. Some people might feel "sad" for Russians soldiers getting blown up in their big tanks, or helicopters, but I'm way more saddened for the innocent civilians (women, kids, elderly/disabled people that couldn't defend themselves) that have already been blown up *in their own houses* , or just walking the street, or even running away from the war. They also had families. So in any case, in my empathy/sympathy scale, the Russian invaders get the last place. And if their hands are stained with civilians blood, they have no place at all, because they have no honor, like that tank crew.
