    I was born in Spain, my parents are from Equatorial Guinea. I left Spain when I was 24 to come to live in the UK and I'm married to a Nigerian and I have young children who love Spain. To be honest, I love Spain but there are not even a quarter of the opportunities for us Africans there as there are in the UK. I experienced racism all my life, bear in mind that I was born there so no foreign accent or funny business. I was never considered Spanish. When I finish my studies I NEVER got a job that wasn't in a club or pub. No shops or other business would employ me once they saw my photo in my CV (Yes! You must add a photo). Nowadays, I only go there on holidays to enjoy the weather and the food. I might go back there to retire with my money coming from the UK though.

    I recommend to stay away from a country that hurt you so much. Instead of going in a holiday to Spain, you should go to the U.S.A. I highly encourage you to visit the South, you will feel at home.

    These comparison videos are always difficult because whatever opinion you express, they will be based on your personal experience and everybody’s experience is different. Outside my birth country, UK is the only other country I have lived in and I’ve never really felt the need to move out of the UK. Home is where your heart is indeed and UK is my home

    I never lived in the UK but I have visited London about 6 times and I absolutely love it. London is one of my favorite places to visit though I haven’t travelled much. I love the corner shops, the side walks coffee shops. I love central London. I currently live in the US and one thing I can say is if you want to have a quality life in the US, live in the suburbs. There is high crime rates in the cities. I wish healthcare is free. Apart from that, I love living here. I mind my business and make my small small money…

    London is one of my favourite tourist destinations. I just hope and pray it falls into those 3 days of sunshine. My kids were like "Mummy do they even have summer here?" 😂 when I took them to London. It was drizzling and overcast in the middle of summer, so much that we had to go everywhere we wanted to go to like that. They could not understand the rainy summer. I and my colleagues used to go into London almost every weekend like tourists.

    If we don’t work ourselves to death in this do called good healthcare system most of this wear and tear to the body could be limited, you will not be needing the hospitals or NHS as much; yes there is something life work balance I will not mention any country as I live in one of them and also walk the hospital floors as a clinician. Sis. Flo I do agree with you that life and work need balance. Me I don tire who wan com make him come , home na home . Let me go and enjoy our organic foods and some rest life is too short ,can you imagine no breaks during the holidays you just get off the day and back the next. I beg make una leave me biko. My view pls.

    Aunty Flo, thanks for making this enlightening video. I enjoyed watching it. I’ve lived 11 years in the UK and I’m a practicing medical doctor here. I have studied here, married here and worked here, So I have a bit of knowledge of different aspects of the Uk. I would agree with the points about the weather and that it’s not as “touristy” if you’re not visiting London. I would also agree that Spanish people are more friendly, warmer and more bubbly than the UK. But...a few things to add from my limited experience. The UK is really more than London. London is quite expensive, in terms of cost of living and accommodation - I agree. But this is Just like say Madrid or any other capital city in Europe. There’s lots of other cities beyond London or cities close to London, which are brilliant to live with reasonable cost. I would also argue that the NHS has one of the best Health care systems in the world. I have been to a Spanish hospital whilst on holiday and I didn’t think there was any great difference to the system, however I was a tourist so I suppose that means I can’t fully comment on the usual system. I think the health care resources a GP surgery has access to here is dependent on the population in that area (ie older people, children, more disabled, more chronic health problems etc). I am a hospital doctor, and I still maintain that the health care system is top notch. I think we can’t really generalise the whole UK based on a few cities in the country.

  • @FloChinyere

    @FloChinyere

    Good to hear that the hospitals are top notch from someone who works there. Everything I said in this video is based on my experience not hearsay and I did issue a disclaimer that I did not use the health service that much. This is my experience as a patient and this perspective is very important too because we are the receivers of the service a.k.a the customers. And I did not generalize. It's impossible for me to sample every location in a country before sharing my experience. 😂 Experiences will always be based on where the person lived.

    Usually Denmark where we live is portrayed as a well-developed welfare state that takes care of its citizens from cradle to grave. It is viewed as a realization of Beveridge’s universal social policy principle, where citizenship or legal residence within the territory is a ticket to social rights for everyone. Denmark appears on top of indexes for happiness, human development, equality, and has low levels of poverty and social exclusion.

  • @FloChinyere

    I don't know in which country you had the bad experiences about Nigerians not having each other's back. I have come to know that Nigerians are generally helpful to each other at least in central Europe. I have heard positive stories of people showing new people the way once they arrive: in Germany, the Netherlands ... Here in Spain, once we hear that a new person is in town (sometimes the charitable associations send them to our meeting because it is registered), we invite the person to our meeting and give him/her general guidance, how to settle in, where to submit CVs end give accommodation to those who need it. Some people will also put in a good word for the person at their places of work. Also, the good thing is that in developed countries, all the information is available to the person. Once one overcomes the language barrier (where applicable), the person will have access to that information. Maybe I am saying this because while I welcome all extension of a helping hand when I am in a new place, I do not feel entitled to it. I ask questions where necessary and I usually get the answers I need or a nudge in the right direction. Only a few people will hold your hands and guide you 100% in a new place unsolicited, most likely your family members that already live in the place. This does not mean that the rest are bad people, everyone is busy living their own lives and some people just don't want to impose their guidance on you so they wait for you to ask first.

    If you are considering living in a foreign country I would focus on growing a backbone and not being so fragile. Black people are a minority in the west, that is perfectly reasonable, it is not our native land, so expect to be an outsider but don't take it as a 'microaggression' when people are just exhibiting curiosity. Not having a chip on your should about not being white does wonders for eliminating these 'micro aggresions'.

How are loaded questions like where are you "really" from? or when did you last visit home? expressing curiosity? Being prickly does not mean having a a chip on your shoulder. From my experience the convert bullies and 'micro-aggressors' often target the peaceful type who wants to be everyones friend.

    @@livinghealthierandhappier I think you are being rude stating that she's exaggerating. It's her opinion and she's earned the right to have one especially since she's lived in both places. Why don't you let her know how you feel about the UK without being insulting?

    I really enjoyed the humour in this video. Spain is really a place one can consider furthering their studies. If I may ask, how were u able to cope language wise? Did u learn the language before moving?

    Love Australia. Very high pay rates, weather is similar to 9jar and they have very small population.

    @@NnalueIfeoma From my opinion and observations, the government do have limits on the number of people that comes into the country. When it comes to most developing countries, it is difficult for the people to get visa's.
