You made me chuckle when you said about Robs sat nav , hope you don't loose him , I took a newbie with me once and to be fair apart from being very slow he didn't do to bad. But we did get split up for a bout 2hrs and when we finally got to gether by pure look you could tell he was passed off. Looking forward to the next installment.

Yeah we was split for about 40mins but luckily by chance we met up at next toll booth he had absolutely no maps or navs and phone didn't work so would of been proper fecked if we never met back up
I'm doing a similar journey on the 31st July, 9:20 train and then straight down to Baden- Baden through France, Belgium, Luxembourg and in to Germany but avoiding all toll roads, 674km.

Did exactly that last Easter. B500 fantastic road and beautiful part of the country.
We normally stop over at the holiday inn at Folkestone, then take the early crossing, makes it a lot easier on the old body, have you tried the L107 Gutach back on the 294 Muhlenbach road loop.

That is and was some mileage you did in one day and that the back is better. I not long back from Europe and did half of that and was very happy to get off the bike when I was finished. Looks like your riding buddy is a european novice. Good job he's got Mr. Reliable on his side! I was going to meet ya in Andorra and ride back with you..., but you are now talking about Germany. Anyway, turns out i'm not going anywhere this summer, I had a fall in the Sussex woods while walking my brothers Dog at Easter and have damaged my knee. Forced to do just the local Swiss roads later this year. So Wales has been cancelled till June '24. Have fun, ride safe and take care of that cold/hay fever.

Good idea to change the 'planned route' in my opinion, one thing to get caught in the rain, madness to drive into it knowing it's going to be poor for days, when you can just change the plan. That's one of the joys of doing your 'own thing'. If it's not working change i. 👍That's some miles in a day! It would have been 'interesting' on the R9T 👍 I think I'm just about done at 300 in a day these days, and that's too many some days.😉
@TinsonTour
Жыл бұрын
Haha later in the episodes i mention about the r9t mainly because of the small tank as at 1 point we was in the middle of nowhere and the gs was down to 17mile fuel range so would of been pushing the r9 🤣
@paullee6663

@@TinsonTour My old Honda will do around 200+ miles on a tank, so I never knew what 'fuel anxiety' was until they introduced this new E10. I need the 'Premium'' stuff, you'd be surprised how many places don't keep it, especially in 'remote' parts of Wales (lots of Texaco stations, and I've yet to find one that keeps it, although they do 'make' one apparently.) Started looking at 150 miles last week, (Aberystwyth) I was still looking at 205 miles, eventually happened upon a small Shell station in the middle of nowhere near Llandovery.
I went to the Black forest too this year, end of May(as last year i went to Spain (same period) and it was horrid, it was winter (back in northen italy we were starting to get 30* C), now i'm in a double parenthesis and i will close it with just one, and i'm taking all with me! (that was a citation!), now back to our regular program, and Germany was quite nice, not perfect weather, but still better than Spain! The B500 was nice (lot's of brits). Plus thanks for the bit on the EuroTunnel, i'm planning Scotland in September, and this 'tutorial' was very appreciated, thanks!

I did B500 last Easter. Took no notice of stupid speed limit and had lots of fun. Great road. 😂
The tunnel is brilliant but it has to be the most unromantic way of crossing the channel. The trains are grey, the architecture and stations are grey and in this instance even the skies are grey. Still jealous though.
@TinsonTour
Жыл бұрын
Haha yeah very true but unbeatable for convenience and speed and tbf i was with a bloke so romance was defo not a priority 🤣
You probably found out that petrol in France is more expensive than the UK. I check the price at Tesco at Ashford and the Total Services after the tunnel in France to see which is cheapest. The news was and still is full of the thunder storms and flooding in Southern France, so you were wise to avoid it.
@TinsonTour
Жыл бұрын
Yeah always found France expensive for fuel but it is what it is , shame about the weather eh
Hi tins👍❤️
It’s almost impossible to not drink beer in Germany ,they treat it like we treat tea or coffee . The foreman on the German building site where I worked back in the day ,used to come around flogging ice cold beers while we were working . We were virtually permanently pi55ed up . I never owned or used a sat nav in my life ,I have enough trouble trying to work out what buttons do what on my bikes dash screen ,me & modern tech just don’t get on . My idea of a sat nav is the Bikers road atlas of Great Britain plus any road signs I can use along the way . Enjoy the trip & the beer 🏍️🍺👍
@TinsonTour
Жыл бұрын
Haha tbf I'm starting to get to my limit with tech as some of it seems overkill , satnavs have a place especially with live traffic so misses closed roads , jams etc although saying that my 1st 15yrs of touring it was just a map in a tank bag
@maskedavenger2578
Жыл бұрын
@@TinsonTour My tank bag cost about 12 quid from Aldi ,magnetic plus about half a dozen straps ,even has a sat nav compartment if I had one . Not fantastic but not too shabby for only 12 quid ,the GiVI ones with tank ring are the business though . 👍

@@TinsonTour Yea they are ideal especially for adventure styled bikes that have a steep slope ,coming up to a flat area around the fuel filler cap . Will get one myself at some point no doubt . A local dealer had an Oxford version ,but it looked a bit cheap & tacky ,& not as secure looking as the Givi ring fitting gubbins . 👍
I don’t think I could physically put in a day of riding like that.
