UK Met Police chief Dame Cressida Dick to step down - BBC News

The head of London’s police force Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick is leaving her role after a series of damaging controversies.
Dame Cressida said she had been left with "no choice" after London Mayor Sadiq Khan made it clear he had no confidence in her leadership.
Last week, the UK police watchdog found "disgraceful" misogyny, discrimination and sex harassment among some Met police constables.
Dame Cressida, the first woman to lead the biggest UK police force, has also faced criticism over the Sarah Everard case.

"There have been many tough calls and many challenges: the 2017 terrorist attacks, the Grenfell fire, very difficult protests, the pandemic, the murder of serving officers". Ah yes so the murder of serving officers is a tough call and challenge but not the kidnap, rape and murder of a civilian, Sarah Everard by a serving officer taking advantage of his authority and then the brutal crackdowns on a peaceful, socially-distanced vigil held in her memory. I can think of no better speech to justify London's lack of confidence in her and the Met. Good riddance.

That she didn't resign from the police there and then, at the moment she found out he was guitly of nothing, raises biq questions about her morality. And we cannot have amoral people running our police forces, who carry on the state's behalf the state's legitimate right to use violence on the population. It is bad enough that such people run the government.

For that, and that alone, we can be sure it is the right thing that she is going. You can see clearly from her 'speech' how proud and conceited she is about her leadership. However inept Patel is, being coloured and a woman meant she could call a spade a spade when the public wind blew in that direction. Our leaders are such a shower of $hi€. With such a politically appointed I dread to see what’s next.
