There are 3 pillars of Grime. Godfathers...KANO, DIZZEE RASCAL and WILEY. They're the most respected (maybe not Wiley as much these days, but you can't take away from him that he basically started this shit). Commercial greatness is SKEPTA and STORMZY. I would say due to staying power and a constantly evolving style GHETTS and P MONEY are becoming the best if the best still active. DEVLIN is up there as a TOP MC with the likes of JME and LETHAL BIZZLE and a handful of others. I would say KANO is most respected, though. Other names to mention are CHIP, FRISCO, DURRTY GOODZ, SCORCHER. Based on all that, my list is- 1. GHETTS 2.KANO 3.P MONEY 4. WILEY 5.JME DIZZEE RASCAL is a bit to commercial for me these days.

Dizzee Rascal, kano, rolldeep - as a Collective (look them up), D double E and splinta. Some of my favorites.

People will always bring up Wiley, Kano, Dizzee as being the best popular OG artists. JME and Skepta always get a mention, they did a lot for the genre. In terms of an undeniable skillset, regardless of influence or popularity, Ghetts and P Money tend to be the big 2 artists who can't escape the conversation. D Double, Chip, Devlin, and Frisco are also highly revered as top 5 artists for many people, all extremely talented in different ways. I don't think there's universally an agreed upon GOAT but I think Ghetts is the one who basically never gets left out of a top 5 list no matter who you ask.

Best grime artist is a tough one. You have Wiley who started it and had a dream. You had Dizzie rascal who twisted it up and comes with levels you see today but various forms. You have ghetts/ghetto who has unique all over. P money just lights up the race/festival defo one to see live. Then you have the og Kano. You have Chip with his pen. Not everyone’s favourite but everyone knows how lethal he is which puts him always up there. Skepta is more simple but is still so sick. I listen to all of the above. Maybe i vibes to P money more than all of them but each one has a special place on my heart. Especially Dizzie. 11 years old, year 7 2002 was the year he dropped boy in da corner. It changed everything for me. Although jungle at 9 years old on a Walkman pirate radio was the real eye opener.

It's hard to pick the best or top 5 but for me Wiley was the beginning of it all on his album the last track was a beat he made & when UK rappers at the time heard it, it changed everything & after that grime started to grow, Dizzie rascal was also a massive part. I would say Ghetts-Devlin-Kano-Wiley- Dizzie rascal or chip

Dizzee made the first official grime album with boy in da corner, first UK number one with Dance wiv me, and he was the only person to do chart music that wasn't cringe. managed to evolve for the new age and stay relevant throughout the 2010s. Never got bitter at the younger generation and has only elevated them and showed love.

You really need to look at devlin more! I’m my opinion he is best uk lyricist in a long time. Bud, sweat and beers is an elite album.

Check out the track YOUNG GUNS , IT features Devlin and ed Sheeran again it's a classic and very clever , I watched it 3 times B4 I realised they were talking about the elements earth wind fire and water , clever , interested what u think of the track

Ghetts has become the Goat for me as hes continued to evolve and Conflict of Interest was an underrated masterpiece, although its arguably no longer strictly grime. but it was Kano before that. I will say though that for me personally, Kano fire in the booth is as good as anything Ive ever heard from any MC, any era, any genre. He smoked that verse so hard whilst telling stories and truths like you're watching movies with your village eldars. Its maybe been matched but bettered!?

Devlin and Skepta were in a movie together called Anti-Social

Best in grime? hard to say 1 name, I think of it like this (and I am sure some others may disagree, some will agree) *Best MC in terms of skill? sheer ability to spit and play with flow , rhythm and where rhymes appear in creative ways? has to be Ghetts (check ANY Ghetts Daily Duppy, FITB, etc and you will see and hear his mastery) *Best pen in terms of the poetry, but also the flow of the language itself? IMO its Wretch 32 (check "Antwi" for an underrated but great Wretch track that shows his pen well) *Best style on the mic (coupled with great technical MC ability and a very gifted pen) ...its Kano (check "Garageskank" for a great "summer tune", good bbq tunes) *And you have to give Wiley props for being the OG/Godfather, and on certain tracks killing it as much as any name I have mentioned. (check out Wiley freestyle on Westwood , which is a dope freestyle session, and Wiley feat Devlin "Holygrime", has to be one of my favourite tunes all time, both of them absolutely DESTROY the beat and the beat is hard, PRIME Devlin verse MUCH better than the bars on the Skepta tune, and PRIME Wiley...being Wiley and spitting his ass off) This is all my opinion, others may differ, but this is my basic layout of thinking with Grime artists, there are so many great MCs I have not mentioned, and many that are kind of connected to Grime but not always doing specifically Grime. Grime is always 140bpm ,high energy aggressive, "Holygrime" by Wiley feat Devlin is a good example of what Grime is in a polished sense, but it came out of Dancehall sound clashes , which is basically like battle rap so there is that whole aspect of Grime that you never see in Daily Duppys, FITB etc

Back in the day the king of grime title was a back and forth between wiley and skepta. Both real ogs in the grime community. I'm 30 so I'm going back from about 15 years maybe. I grew up on og grime. But for "some" top grime artists. I'm no order and just off top of my head Kano Wiley Skepta P money Jme Ghetts Pretty much anybody from boy betta know (BBK) Bashy.

Ghetts, devlin, griminal, lil nasty, Maxsta and dolla freestyle tim Westwood. 💯💥

Wiley is the Godfather for me . Skepta and kano thay my top 3 . But so many to choice from . The UK is killing it .

This is a bit hard because i don't consider some as 'Grime' artists even though they may get called that like Wretch i would say was more UK rap even though he came up in the grime scene or Akala, Mic etc i would say were more conscious rap this is just my opinion though. So top old school grime artists for me are Ghetts, Kano, Devlin, Dizzee, Wiley, P Money, Chip, Skepta, JME, Durrty Goodz, Lethal B, D double E. etc UK rappers, Wretch 32, Avelino, Krept & Konan, Bugzy, Potter Payper, Giggs, Fredo etc Conscious rap, Akala, Dave, Lowkey, Mic Righteous, Logic, etc

If we’re talking top 5 five greatest legendary Grime mcs it can only be: Kano, Ghetts, D double E, Wiley and Dizzee. But for top 5 most highly skilled mcs on the Mic imo it’s gotta be: Kano, Ghetts, P money, Griminal and D double. Hard not to put Trim, Flowdan, Dot Rotten and Wretch in there too.

Honestly you guys need to check out Flirta D for something completely different. He's an OG of the grime scene but his style is like nothing else you've ever heard! Check out his "the lift" freestyle to get an idea of what he can do

My top 5 grime im not 100% on the order but looking at what I always go back too is Ghetts Devlin Kano Dizzee Rascal Wiley D double E JME Big narstie, specifically his fire in the booth and the BDL bipolar album More than 5 but it is what it is. There isn't an order to that but if I had to choose my favourite I'd say ghetts, I remember when calm before the storm came out I listened to that album more than any album I've ever listened to, artillery was my favourite track, the only thing that comes close is the marshal mathers LP or dre 2001 in hours listened, mad how I put ghetts up there with em and dre but I do think he's that good

Maybe give SIDEWINDER shows a listen where a lot of artist back to back before was played on the radio . Grime top 5 has to be the originals … 1 . Ghetts 2 . Kano 3. Wiley 4. Durrty goodz 5. Lethal Bizzle ( more fire crew ) give POW a listen So solid crew .. is also pretty much where the grime scene started from give them a look more garage scene but what grime evolves from pretty much .

Wiley is probably the best at grime as he was the one that made so many people aware of it, back in the day when grime was grime, no one was touching Wiley👌🏼

Best artists to come out of grime is a matter of opinion, depending on what factor you see as most important (bodies of work, pioneers/builders of the scene, producing aswell as mcing, or just strait mcing ability in a grime rave/set). But generally the discussions are between: D double e, devlin, kano, ghetts, wiley, skepta, dizzee rascal Other top tier/elite status artists that are up there are: p money, jme, frisco, chip, dot rotten For me personally all of the above are the elite, but theres other legends such as flirta d, griminal, crazy titch, footsie, president t, scorcher, earz was cold back in the day as well Hope this helos with your research, big up for the content man - nice to see people from abroad enjoy and respect the scene. 👊✌️✊️👏

For me i think its hard to classify a Top 5 as many of artists drift between many different sub categories of rap. Eg hip hop, drill, freestyles, grime, pop rap, r&b rap, MCing which sits within jungle/ d&b and house music- with rapper etc Also not forgetting spoken word and battle rap that are a little on the periphery The only few who are ' grime centric' are Ghetts, Wiley , Skepta, Chip, Devlin JME and the rest of BBK..plus others Whereas others blend or do bits of this and that eg Dave, Mic Righteous, Ocean Wisdom, Dizzee, Stormzy, Kano id also put in this grouping , etc I think weve a remarkable mass of artists that flex their creativity and reach and produce some cool sounds and some profound works of art

Everyones opinion will differ but probably very slightly. Dizzee rascal has the best grime album in UK history. Wiley pioneered the sound is considered the godfather Skepta was an original pioneer too and transcended further than anyone else Ghetts and kano also considered top 5 in almost everyones list Chip should also get an honourable mention Theres loads that can be listed but these guys were there from the beggining and still doing it now

All these folks top 5s show they don't know about grime. Some are shocking. Grime started in the raves. Sidewinder. Nasty crew, east connection, ruff squad, virus syndicate, pay as you go, more fire camp, macabre unit, mucky wolfpack, boys in the hood, heartless crew, NAA, special delivery loads more. To see these top 5 comments I feel offended. Listen to Kano beats and bars mixtape. Or early Ghetts 2000 and life mixtape. Yes kano Ghetts should be in people's top 5s. Also dizzee but there's many more that could easily take those spots. Those are the obvious ones.
