I’ve been looking at Lairds. Not sure if they have the slipway(s) any more.

I sincerely hope that Harland and wolf make a better job of the new RFA vessels than they did of Ft Victoria and Ft George that had to go to other yards in UK to be finished as they were so late and over cost and the Irish yard could not commission them. These new ships should have been built at Cammell Lairds and the Irish yard closed. Typical poor decision making by government officials.

Please build 20 inshore fast patrol vessel this would cost the same as one frigate. Arm the craft to the teeth America has 12 such vessels and they work.

About time this Country wakened up and build , build , build our Military . The Navy needs none stop building of ships . The Army needs to take Challenger 2 tanks and refit to Challenger’s 3 alongside the continuing none ending building of the Challenger 3 and other Armoured vehicles . And the Airforce is the same more planes and unlimited supply of high tech equipment, weapons and more advanced technology to all 3 British Forces And more troops for all Military Service . It’s clear the Cold War never died !!! It’s just went invisible and is still going on . And Cadets at School levels to be trained by regulars troops in lighter levels and prepare our School Children for Military Duties . And National Service . This Country needs to waken up China has 3 million troops and the largest Navy in the World !!! That’s not for defence only think about it .!!!

At 1:03 this is video of one of the Italian LHD's "Trieste". There should be NO excuses from the UK now. Babcock, BAE have won massive ongoing contracts domestically - and have orders from The Australian and Canadian Governments for the type 26. New Zealand is showing interest in the Type 23 FFG so we'll see how this all shakes out. But the surface fleet builds aside, the current left Australian Government has given the UK/US around AUS$5 billion for the "AUKUS" agreement with respect to building the nuclear reactors and design of the new submarine. Why government simply did not ask for a continued "Astute" class order is typical RAN and Russell where all of the uniformed and civilians staff work. The UK government/UK primary contractors are awash with money.

The rest of the UK get their parts to build too if they build like they should all the ship yards should be busy around the UK but keep politics out of it . Hand the Military the money and let them decide what they need to get to fight a war . Politicians get involved and they cut the money , and again and so on . Till the Military gets nothing likes needed or right for purpose !!

That’s the problem no matter who is in Downing Street they should hand the money needed to build the Equipment and let them get on with it. They get involved and budget cut !! And the military end up with half of what they needed to fight with . Keep politics out of the Military

What use will these ships be in modern war fair. We would be better building merchant ships to export and bring wealth to the country.

Unfortunately, Britain's industrial prowess died a long time ago! The time it takes from conception, to actually entering service is far too long. By the time a vessel is ready for active service , it's generally outdated, underarmed, and way over budget!

Scottish Shipbuilding has been thriving working with the Ministry of Defence. Contrast that to Scottish Shipbuilding working with the SNP Scottish Government which is a DISASTER. 2 Ferries, 801 and 802, that are currently 5 years plus LATE, are unable to dock at all their destinations, CANNOT use the Dual Power system due to the Scottish Government (SNP/GREEN) and has had to have the builders BOUGHT OUT by the Scottish Government. So BAD is the Scottish Governments OWN SHIPYARD that future Ferries have been allocated to Turkey and NO FUTURE orders for the SNP Ship Yard. Independence would see ALL of the Scots Ship Yards CLOSE and only the Ferguson Marine yard left WITH NO NEW ORDERS. SNP, Killing Scotland Day after Day.

Yes you’re right this is why politicians should keep out of it and hand the money to build the ships and leave them to get on with it . But another thing is it should be put out to ship yards to tender . And the ship yard are responsible to build it at the tender prices . If they are late then charge them penalty clauses .
