This is how I am trying to build my kit. Level’s. Level zero is on body, clothing, shoes, watch etc. level 1 is EDC, in a bag, carried everywhere. Level 2 is the get home bag, kept in car so basically close to where I am. Then home preps and finally bug out. Each level builds on the previous one rather than just repeating contents.

Something I carried for my work bag was a simple cover for my rucksack. It's elasticated and simply grips around the edges.

Thanks for doing this - Canuck here. So much of prep/shtf stuff is infected by our friends south of the border and the over reliance on firearms. Sure we can get them up here too, but it's always better to factor in not having one. You might lose it, it might become damaged, run out of ammo or.. you might live in the rest of the world where firearms aren't so common.

Useful items to help you get home: cash to buy transportation from a passing motorist or to buy a bicycle, an extra pair of dry socks to wear at night if you have walked all day in the rain, an N-95 face mask or other way to filter smoke and asbestos dust and a clear pair of goggles to protect your eyes if walking at night beside hedges or in a woodland.

Great kit!! Love the philosophy of the bag and being prepared. Lastly, THANK YOU for mentioning to learn how to use a tourniquet if carrying one in your IFAK. Too many people put stuff in their bag and hope for the best. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, That sewing kit is to do repairs on thin fabric only, like office shirt. That thread won't hold anything like jeans or bag materials. Instead, take one of those small containers your mechanical pencil leds come in, put few strong needles in it, I put tapestry needles and few larger stronger ones with sharp points, bigger ones also fit safety pins, roll some jean thread or any strong thread around the small container. Or two three different kind of threads (if you plan to use this for sewing yourself up with sewing thread- no. Absolutely no. You need to do some research on this, most threads sold in these kits and in your regular shop are treated with poisonous colorants, you are better off with something else). Add a leather thimble. This will serve you good and is much lighter than those kits and and smaller. Take care!

as one who is cut fairly often we pretty much only carry bandages, the plasters if they ever are the right size , the glue on them goes off far too fast so you end up with useless bits of material all nicely wrapped. electrical tape lasts longer by a long shot . and can be used to bind a large wound with a t shirt or that kind of thing.

A quick couple of points on the first aid if you don't mind? I'd add trauma bandages (come with trauma dressing attached) and/ or Israeli bandage (1st field dressing) I have both in my first aid kits. Suturing: nobody is sewing themselves up but if you are Rambo make life easier on yourself and use a curved needle, (put a deep cut in a side of pork and try sewing it up with your sewing kit, it ain't easy). Super glue, consider Liquid Skin, Dermabond or other medical grade super glue. Over the counter super glue can have an adverse chemical reaction leaving a burn, also it dries brittle it's not really flexible enough for anything other than paper cuts. If you do get the training and add a tourniquet, get yourself a Sharpie so you can write on the casualty the time it was applied (it'll help emergency services immensely). Imho overall a good looking kit fwiw, I'd add a cup (for your drinks), spare socks and foot powder, we both know the importance of foot-care on a long tab.

Nice get home bag,as for the stove i would get the bcb hexi stove that uses dragon fuel gel tabs as 3 tabs fit in the stove and each tab will heat a ration meal,as for the pocket in the back you could put a heavy duty black bag in there, the poncho will cover you and your pack and you can also use it as an emergency shelter👍

It is interesting to see how people who have never experienced a real disaster think that a bag full of things will solve the problem. I have experienced war as both a civilian and a soldier, and the amount of fear, confusion, and chaos is enormous. First, moving from one location to another during a disaster is foolish and dangerous. Second, if, God forbid, we experience a disintegration of the forces of order, the gangs will be on the streets in no time. Can you defend yourself, or better yet, are you willing to risk death and injury to defend yourself and your belongings? Are you ready to kill a human being in the bloodiest way possible (knife, spike, brick, bottle...)? (In the EU, people are disarmed so that they cannot defend themselves from criminals (aka immigrant invasion force), so we generally don't have firearms.) Are you ready to kill a cute little dog to get food? Basically, I gave up on prepping. In the case of a nuclear war, that makes no sense to me. In the event of the end of the rule of law (although, to be honest, the laws were written for the sheep and not for "the elite"), I will stay at home, so we can last as long as we can. This kind of bag makes sense for someone who would be away from home at that time and who is willing to do absolutely anything to return home alive. From my experience, people break down mentally when they can't find toilet paper in the store, let alone when it's a life-and-death battle. And, as a conclusion, my estimate is that 98.5% of bug-out bags will mostly end up in the hands of criminals.

@@Hebesgugl this is a get home bag. So I can get back to my home it’s the primary purpose. Point being it would also be a good start for a bug out bag too. As in bugging out to a family members home maybe. Everything else I will let you continue to speculate and assume you know me or anything about me. ;) ;)

@@UKUrbanPrepper It was not a criticism directed at you or your content. Yes, I wrote it a bit clumsily. My apologies. I usually don't comment on videos; my motivation for doing so was aimed at those who will spend, for example, 500-1000 euros for that-to throw that bag in some bakkie and think they are safe now. Unfortunately, as far as I can see, a lot of the people making those videos (not you) are obese or obviously physically unfit. For example, they have top-notch things that they have obviously never used, etc. These are the people who will die among the first (apologies for the honesty). During the war in former Yugoslavia, gangs armed with tanks and armored personnel carriers ransacked the villages, and in that case, escape was the only option. How many people you know can run on mountain trails for 1-2 hours without rest? Such scenarios are very nasty, and many spoiled westerners (no offense, please) are not ready for them, nor can any weekend course prepare them for such horrors. I wish you all the best and good luck with your channel!

Great video,Also in that kit I would probably have a cheap set of water proof trousers and jacket , (the ones that fold away in there self so they don't take up a lot of room )what we use to call packer mack back in my day to protect you from full out dust etc so then when you get home or to a place of safety you can just take them off and your cloths underneath are safe from any nasty contaminats

just watched your review on the the little black box kit personally i would add a small knife sharpener to it i have a similar knife its a wolfcraft one from amazon made in germany i have used it a fair bit at home but i have had to sharpen it a couple of times, also added that box to my survival list on amazon for purchase at a later date as im thinking of making a similar bag for the boot of my new car i am getting this year.

Sorry, ex-military here. This is massively over the top - too heavy by far. There are vastly simpler ways to build a pack. My get home pack is 3 kg and is very comprehensive and, dare I say it, more efficient and more effective. Similarly, the medical kit can be significantly improved whilst reducing weight and bulk.
