Is it me but drivers will use there brakes and change direction to avoid a collision. where as the cyclist didn't even brake and just carried in straight into the bus???

I think, unlike many people, he realised that some people who drive on the wrong side of the road are poor, confused foreigners. He gave the guy some slack and was kind to him. There should be more people like him throughout the world.

+Timster He was pretty relaxed. The driver should not have been confused. Confused people should not drive trucks. Where would I give a small allowance for confusion? Outside of a port, e.g. Dover. This was the countryside, he'd clearly been driving in the UK for some time.

+Alex Donohoe I was going to counteract with how distances and closing speed are hard to judge from a wide angle camera, but then watched it again and realised you can see the right (front) brake lever, after changing gear he braked fairly slowly unlike a panic stop, and just before he hit the bus he actually reduced the brake effort, right at the point you'd expect maximum braking.

just ask yourself why you're still driving at the left side in UK, while almost the whole world (except India and Australia) drive's at the right site (this means: the site who is right...). If you should change, and drive at the right site, this wouldn't happen.... :-)

That was an example of a good driver. He came to a halt immediately after noticing the kid, proving that his speed was not excessive and that he is a responsible driver. I am glad the kid is safe.

And what,humans can't be bad engineers? Just because you've seen a "hand full" of bad drivers doesn't mean you can say all humans are bad. I'd like to see if/when the driverless cars come out and there's an accident and someone dies,you wouldn't be happy if it was someone close to you because who would get the blame?, it certainly wouldn't be the "passengers". I see stick to proper cars.

I'm from the UK and I recently installed a dashcam in my car. When I've watched some of my 'close calls' later on my computer, mine are like really far away. That tells me that these videos taken by these people are so, so, much more dangerous and close.

3:42 the cyclist had pleeeeeeeenty of time to stop. He hit that bus on purpose just to make a point!

Did anyone else notice the cyclist speedo? He sped up instead of slowing down once the bus pulled out... Bus driver shouldn't be so ignorant either...

He isnt required to use his mirrors as on that road he would only be checking traffic oncoming on the other side of the road, he obviously wouldn't expect traffic coming alongside him in the wrong lane?

As an American, I find it deeply refreshing that the UK drivers seem more concerned with avoiding accidents and being glad one was avoided than with getting angry and punishing the drivers who made bad decisions. Americans usually feel like they need to chase down whoever was in the wrong and yell at them; Brits seem to be able to just let shit go. I wonder why this difference exists.
