UK 1985 wrestling match Kung Fu -v- Rollerball Rocco plus after bout punch up!
Спорт
This is an entire bout plus the after match "interview" from a match from a pilot for a new TV wrestling show and was never broadcast in this form. Recorded at The Victoria Hall, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday 19th October 1985. Others in the video John Kenney v Rob Brookside, Count Bartelli (Age 62!) v The Amazing Warlord, Bobby Barnes, Kung Fu, Chic Cullen, Rllerball Rocco, John Conte (Boxer), Vince Miller, Maxted C Beasley Etc....Even promoter Brian Dixon knows to keep out of the way when these two set about each other after the bout!
You will see that the MC was, shall we say "inexperienced" having been hired as "talent" to present the show to the public instead of using one of the more experienced Brian Dixon announcers such as John Harris. Oh well! Please contact me and if enough people are interested I shall look into selling copies of this tape on DVD. It contains 5 bouts (some far better than this) with lots of on and off ring action. To make the show more interesting I shall include all the bits that are normally removed before showing on TV so you can see that this was really a needle match and in no way set up! Finally I am seen in this show - but where??? ;-)

Rollerball Rocco has forgotten to bring Spit the Dog
Eddie. Hammill ( kung fu ) said years later that he and rocco. ( who were good mates outside the ring ) agreed to go all out in their bouts to give that air of realism. Both were also excellent skilled technical wrestlers.
Wow, real Saturday afternoon legends

Nice to know you have taste well done mate
rocco said years later british wrestleing died as the promoters.and the powers to be ect didnt put anything back into the sport the americand did and look at them now.wrestleing in the uk is very popular but the golden years are gone
Rough,tough wrestlers
Brian Dixon later took his shows to ITV
"...And look out for Cyndi Lauper...NOW!!" 10:34
it was made by screensport in 1985 they went bust the shows were a joint venture between Brian Dixon and a boxing promoter
I'm not the biggest fan of British Wrestling, but that pin sequence at 7:30 was actually pretty cool.
Wow...I didn’t know that Ben Dover worked for Brian Dixon....
The MC looks like Ben Dover
Is it Eric Morecambe doing co commentary?
Such a cute tiny ring. Haha
BallsRocco us the Limit.

Cock-up, more like: irritating in the extreme....
Where's Ovil?
Frank Casey lets wrestlers beat the shit out of each other before doing anything, with constant warnings, seen this with a Kendo Nagasaki match - Frank had no bottle!.
It is years since we had a good cross-buttocks from Big Daddy on a Saturday afternoon! :-)
Tenerife, Tenerife...
Anyone remember in the 80's a match involving rollerball (i think) saturday dinner time...say 1pm-ish (was it on then about the same time as saint and greavsie??)anyway, a glass bottle was involved and rocco was bleeding....i was only about ten so could be completely wrong...
If you look at Roccos face closely at the end you must come to a simple conclusion. The antics at the end were NOT a result of adrenalin. He was either completely stoned or insane - not sure which!
Acdc in the background
Kid Jonathan woulda knocked these fools out.
Trying to hard to be like American wrestling
I used to watch this pish every Sat at 4 with my Grandad. God help me. Incidentally, is this the world's smallest ring ?
...And Kung-Fu says "That's where we fight Rocco...That's where we fight son!" 03:10 Sandbagging!! Not really a high flier is he? Though Rocco's was impressive though 08:30...
Looks like a load of cobblers to me. Nicely rehearsed, mind.

Just a circus act
If Kung Fu was a real master he would have put Rocco on his back in the first round and his Obis too big which makes me wonder is he for real i dont think so i have done both Judo and Karate and it all looks fake

You can't beat Kent Walton!
King fu more Hong Kong phooey than Kung Fu.
Was the ref counting when the fake karate guy was on the floor? Why?
I did watch 5 minuets... what a load of rubbish. No wonder UK wrestling died. Too much like the American so called wrestling. Bring back ITV's World of Sport.

UK wrestling 'died' in the 1980s because it WASN'T like American Wrestling. That's why it was taken off air - it was stuck in the early 1970s! It's now 2016 and UK wrestling is more popular now than it has been at any point in the last 35 years. Lots of promotions drawing big crowds and a promotion in Scotland (ICW) running a 11000 seat venue later this year.
