I'm surprised y'all didn't run with the idea of having the same shirt to thrift. That would be an interesting challenge to have the same item and try to come up with different ways to upcycle the same piece. ❤️

My bff has a collection of what she calls "ugly shirts", which are essentially really funky patterned shirts. They aren't ugly at all when styled right, y'know? Just when you looked at them as a collection, it was like.. whoa, who is that crazy person?! loll I think most of what Emma Chamberlain wears is butt ugly, but she's on Vogue, so hey... there is no objective definition of ugly. Some people think lace is ugly and reminds them of old doilies, other people swear by its timeless elegance. No rhyme or reason, it is what it is.

For the nude color dress, sewing it as a lining and an outer would have been better. This means laying the lining and the outer right sides together and then sewing along the neckline. You could even insert the ends of the shoulder straps in at this point too. Then flip the dress right sides out and you should have a nicely finished neckline! hope this helps!

You thrift home decor for coolirpa and she thrifts clothes for you and both of sorrygirls and coolirpa scetch out what fix up you would have done to the item you picked. And then coolirpa upcycles the homedecor and sorrygirls upcycle clothes and that would make me so happy :)

Its too bad she cut the top off that dress, the embroidery near the neckline was really interesting and I think It would have been cute to just re imagine the neckline using that "V" shaped embroidery as a guide. To shorten the dress and keep the tiers you could have cut off the tiers, shortened the dress and then reattached them at that top seam. Also w those "boho" pants, I really liked that she expanded it with that fabric but I think faux suede was the wrong material choice. At first I thought it was really cute, but after seeing it on the material seems to be a bit too thick and doesnt really blend well with the other, more flowy, material. It would have been really cool if you also thrifted a lace curtain or something and added that instead. You could dye a white/off white material a darker/brown color to match the pants better with tea ;). I also think that the lacing turned out looking kinda tacky. It would have looked cuter, in my opinion, if she had cut another triangle from the waistline, added a "privacy panel" of sorts (using the same material she expanded the flare with),and then added the grommets in a "V" shape around where the privacy panel is sewn. (in my head) this looks better because it looks like an actual closing to the pants and not as tacked on. This would have been more difficult though because obviously the fabric had a lot of stretch to it so idk. I still think everything turned out really cute!

I actually like here flared pants. That orange dress on the other had... Is just badly styled. The top is my only problem. It look half done and trashy. Like she should have kept the collar and sleeves and just took out the shoulder pads while make it more form fitting. The skirt is fine I guess, not alot of effort to make one. Sorry

  • @roseaverina

@@fedoralars i think its just the fact that her last step in sewing that panel should be sewing a topstitch on it. there was no problem with sewing it right sides together first as that is the correct way to do it (at least in how ive learned it). THEN topstitching it :)

  • @fedoralars

Rosaline Carissa Averina In a costume shop I do a lot of weird alterations so I did something similar to this a year ago. I’ve just found that inserting godet type shapes in a ready made garment look better when they are only topstitched in. It allows the point at the top to lay nicer. Otherwise you should undo more of the side seam, sew one side of the godet, and then start sewing up the pant leg on the other side of the godet at the hem and blend your stitch line into the point and the original side seam and being judicious about pressing and clipping
