Just bought one today. Went fishing, and caught some good 3 1/2 lbs and 4 pounders bass. Pole working pretty good . No issue so far. Good thing for that. Using a Penn Pursuit II 3000 reel on the rod.

Same combo I have

Always have used Ugly Sticks without issue, very durable rods. However, on the first day I used a new Inshore Select it SNAPPED as I was reeling in an 8 pound Jack Crevalle. Will be bringing it back to Bass Pro Shops ASAP.

I picked up the intercostal ugly stick and it has been good to me so far. Mainly used for mangrove snapper and sheep’s head

Same thing happened to me today. First time using it. This is my first Inshore Select. Never have had a problem with other Ugly Stiks.

Sorry to hear about your Ugly Stik breakage. That is the NEW inshore with the cork handle, I have 6 of the older versions that are black not grey and syth handle. I was looking at the cork handle version and it just didn't feel like my older version. Didn't have that 'stout' feeling. I can't say if the older ones are better but I treat mine rough and touched the top eye to the handle several times with bad snags.The eyes are holding up great also, Knock on wood, so far so good.

I bought the same exact rod, and it snapped in half on my first time using it. It snagged as well and I pulled a little to free it, like I have done many times with all my other ugly Stiks, and it broke. Maybe it's a manufacturing defect with that size or model.

I have the same rod and it has been great . Either you had a factory defect or maybe your rod was pinched and you didn't know it. I use braid and if I am snagged I pull it out or break it off straight and not bend the rod .

I bought mine 2 months ago catching big red and black drum no problem

Bought this rod last week, casted it three times, on the fourth cast it broke in half. Take my comments and others about this rod to heart , I do not recommend to buy this model of Ugly Stick!

Great I just bought the 7 ft medium model today and there are no reviews on Amazon. Only 2 guys saying theirs broke. I have my receipt and I might switch it out for the Elite model instead which was my original intention until I seen the inshore. It still has the tag and plastic on it.

I would try it first, see how it does. They have a 7 year warranty so if something does happen you can change it out very easy. If you do have a problem contact Ugly stik see what they say. I will sending them a email asking them if they have had any problems with these.

Been using them sence the 80's. Never a problem. Took an ultra light one and bent it 360, like in the old commercials. Mabe you got a dud?

I believe it's just the inshore select models that people are having problems with.

I'm waiting for pain to come out with a Carnage 2 inshore fishing rod

I want to know how good this rod is cause I got to have this rod but I want some more information on this rod so please help me out

I took mine to Bass Pro shop and exchanged it. If you have one near by I would do that. If not you have to pay 9.99 to send it back to Ugly Stik.

Yeah they'll replace it with the same cheap rod ugly sticks are great rods years ago but now that they made a name for themselves and they know people will buy them they're building them cheaper I had one break to right at the tip when I cashed it it it just snapped and I cashed it a Rattle Trap so they're just making a cheap that's all they're doing so I go online and I find used rods and reels and I find the older ugly sticks that are in pawn shops that's how I do it I won't buy the new ones it's not worth it

Theres not a single video online of the inshore select stress test, so why do you say there are tons? There are 0.

You break it in purpose

Garbage rod..used 3 hours and snapped in half..always liked uglysticks. Have one that lasted me 18 years but this model is trash.
