“Ugly” financing likely in Victoria Gold’s future - Adshead-Bell
“Ugly” equity financing likely on the way as Victoria Gold grapples with the aftermath of a heap leach failure at its Eagle gold mine in Yukon, Canada, which could be an existential threat to the company, Nicole Adshead-Bell, principal at Cupel Advisory said on Kitco Mining’s Digging Deep show. Adshead-Bell looked at some of the reasons why heap leach pads fail, the impact they have on single asset gold producers and broader impacts on the industry at large.
Adshead-Bell also discussed Skeena Resources' success in financing its Eskay Creek gold project in British Columbia, the positive impacts Argentina's new fiscal legislation would have on the mining sector, Rio Tinto potentially getting permission to build the Jadar lithium mine in Serbia, Agnico Eagle Mines plans to develop an underground mine at its Detour Lake mine in Ontario, taking it to 1Moz/y of production, and Snowline Gold's maiden resource at the Valley target at its Rogue project in Yukon.

Dang. I'm sorry.
This is a poorly structured and not well thought out discussion regarding Victoria Gold resources. Firstly, no one died or was injured during the incident. That is very important. Secondarily, the terms of the financing to fix the plant we do not know at this point. Thirdly, a good amount of the risk may already be in the stock price which has dropped about $320 million in market capitalization. A good interview would have gone into past precedents regarding heap leach pad problems at other mines and what happened -- and discussed both the pro and con to what happened at Victoria -- not just the con. Overall, poor journalism and not fact based -- very much off the cuff chatter.
With acsents some names and stock symbols on the screen would have greater clarity, however discussion raised many excellent points that confirm the state of investment interest in the sector
I think a more balanced view of the situation with Victoria would have been better in this interview. Single producing asset yes, but invested in multiple pies, with significant credit lines already available. No one knows what the cleanup cost will be yet. 28 million cash on hand is said in interview but this is before Q2 results will report @ $2300 gold, versus Q1 much lower price of gold. Q2 was practically complete when this happened. Production delay yes, maybe long, but too early to tell.

This is a tremendous opportunity to pick up shares on the cheap to me it’s a huge gift I’m a high risk investor the company will recover !!! They invested tooooooo much into this to simply walk away. I’m waiting to hear from management as we all are and I will be buying more either this stock will be a 10X in the next few years or it won’t either way it’s a risk I’m very happy to take. Thank god no one was killed or injured.
