What shows that a country is fairly democratic is not that journalists can have tea with politicians they criticise but that journalists can speak their mind without the fear of being thrown in prison

Having tea is just symbolic dont comment without understanding Andrew think outside the box he said himself you can critcise and hold accountable those responsible but it's not to abt an enemy to destroy like nowdays journalists

@@ezraalba7465 Yes, the people he criticised didn't take it personally but that is not what indicates that the ideals of democracy were being upheld. The more powerful gesture Was him being thrown into prison for doing his job. That was what spoke volumes as far as democracy is concerned

@@medardbitangimana4580 but you're cherry picking moments to justify your arguments if Anrew himself who was thrown into prison has a different mindset and mentality then who are we to judge or even think for him not only in Uganda many of those great countries have Challenges on press freedom Uganda isn't any different yes the govt has it's own issues will talk abt them another day but Andrew's main point ur missing is it's not a do or die you can still sit with the people your criticise and have tea it doesnt have to change your self belief as a journalist to sho the public the goods and bad of a govt ... it's not a do or die

@@ezraalba7465 I'm being objective here. Democracy has ideals. I don't know if you understand them. Journalists should not be intimated in a good democracy. It doesn't matter if outside of work, the journalist has good personal relationships with the people in power. In the context of democracy we will consider that a journalist while at work, spoke and he was thrown into prison for doing that. Yes, we appreciate that powerful people can tolerate his person in private and we clap for that but it's more important that they tolerate his work work as a journalist as well. That's the point of my argument
