mismanagement man. These charities would rather spend 1300 on a week's worth of bottled water than put effort into creating a good water system for the same amount. When your business is giving away money and you get a percentage of that money your goal is to git rid of it a quickly as possible whether or not it does any good.

It’s an emotional grift. Someone most likely got public funds or grant in the name of “green renewable deal” and that’s the “economic development project” that made it all compliant. They need to put them in a well with a solar powered pump and/or hand pump and they might not even need a filter. But then they’ll need some guns and ammo to prevent whoever will want to seize it and claim it as there’s. They might want to start with the “innovative green technology” first...

In India a college student has developed a portable water cleaning device that clean water on the spot, you just need a plastic bottle on which that filter will be placed. The leaves of the are one of the best source of Iron, which is very essential for young girls and mothers to avoid Anemia. The leaves can be just boiled with salt and sauteed with grated coconut and it tastes great. They can also boil the leaves and make tea / soup out of it. Same goes with the vegetables and flowers of this tree. A staple here in South India and easy food to consume. Kudos to the thinkers!

You lost me at "Access to clean water is a human right." No. It is not. This is a highly abbreviated explanation, but this is the basic logic of why clean water is not a human right (this applies to any commodity though). The phrase "A human right" implies that you should always have it, whether you can provide it out of your own resources or not. But if you are unable to provide it out of your own resources, yet are still guaranteed to have it, that means someone else must provide it for you. To guarantee someone is providing it for you, you must either pay them, or if you are unable to pay or unable to find someone willing to do it for pay, then it means you force them to provide it to you against their will, and possibly free of charge. Forcing someone to provide labor or services against their will and free of charge is called human slavery. Ergo, the statement "clean water is a human right" logically requires the corollary statement "Slavery is a human right." Since enslaving others is not a human right, water (or any commodity) can not be a human right.

Quick question, if the granite come from trees, what was the white piece of paper on top of the granite soil on the top bucket? Also he said only water and air can filter from the top bucket into the bottom bucket…but if water can filter, what’s the guarantee only the clean water comes through the the top bucket and not the bottom bucket? I’m assuming granite absorbs all the impurities… I wish they linked a proper blueprint for this bucket apparatus so all of Africa can build or makeshift in their respective communities. Also the $1200 filter system also installed…how is that used besides the bucket system? Is that just another separate system in addition to the bucket?

@HahThatsWhatSheSaid crushed granite alone isn't enough to filter microorganism, and with crushed granite that coarse you have better results trying to filter water with a cheesecloth

Maybe this is a dumb question, but don't the filters in water pitchers use charcoal? Is it the same charcoal that is used to boil the water? Can that be used to filter as well as the granite?
