Спорт

There's a lot to be positive about after the first season of the UFL and the championship game between the USFL champion Birmingham Stallions and the XFL champion San Antonio Brahmas...but there are some issues the league MUST address heading into season 2.
In this video, I take a look at the major win and major concern for the United Football League after the 2024 season.

    It's time for the UFL to put it's money where it's mouth is. It needs to spend $ in all 8 markets.

    I agree that if the conference championship games had been switched, there might have been more people at both venues. Maybe an earlier start to the season in 2025 will alleviate that

    I look at it like this, domes are vital in UFL because of weather and moving The Panthers would leave the league with only 2. But if they must move the Panthers they could use the Rynearson stadium about 30 minutes down the street seats just over 30 thousand

    Add to that if the UFL decided to move to a February start, that could be tough to draw fans in Detroit as well. Like I said, give it another season and maybe at Ford Field, but if the situation stays the same, they have to do something.

    The good and the bad. St Louis should be ashamed. And I fear they’re trending in the wrong direction. I wouldn’t hold the championship game there anymore. Should be Canton. That crowd in St. Louis which was spread out woudlve looked great in HOF stadium. Overall. Great season some great Action and exciting games. Championship Game Was a dud but that’s on the shoulders of the Brahmas, not the league.

    I really feel St Louis blew their chance at not just hosting again, but they proved they're a "Battlehawks" town, not just a "football" town. I loved going to a couple of games at the Dome and spending some time with the fans in the tailgate area, but man was that a disappointing turnout for a game in their hometown.

    @@johnlewissports the league needs a neutral site. They cant depend on StL or DC or SA for that matter to make the big game. Even if canton can draw 15k it will look good in that stadium. @@Mike-aka747 Agreed. Canton's stadium seats 23,000, which is less than the announced attendance for the UFL championship, but to me that number is skewed because a lot of Battlehawks fans bought tickets and no-showed or put them on the market and they went unsold. I understand some people wanting a game in the dome for weather issues, but we saw what happened in STL.

    I watched every game on TV this year.. and honestly they need to expand.. it gets boring watching the same teams play each other week after week.. even if they move stadiums I don't know if they will see any improvement in attendance or viewers so they will have gained nothing going into your 2025. which Expanding into A market like Omaha would be a vast improvement in income for the league I believe

  • @johnlewissports

    @johnlewissports

    Ай бұрын

    I agree that expansion would certainly add to the variety of matchups, but I get the idea of building the base one more year and finding some better footing for the league. I think the rush to field a product after the merger caused some problems that can be addressed with one more season (and off-season) of stability and planning. The TV viewership probably won't increase significantly in 2025, but hopefully with better marketing, attendance will.

    @@johnlewissports I mean I understand that but is the risk of adding on two more teams too much I guess then at the moment financialy Wise? Honestly i doubt attendance will be that much better if they move stadiums For those two teams.. That's why I thought like getting a team like Omaha would help the league overall with viewers and just bringing more money to the league.. in the old UFL Omaha was proving to bring in anywhere from 15,000 to 24,000 fans a game and Plus it's on the border of two states, it just seems like a perfect city For the UFL.

    @@ryanr9299 I believe they're trying to get a more solid base built and increase local marketing for the 8 teams. Agreed that, especially with the addition of Friday night football, that adding 2 teams would signal growth but maybe they're holding that for 2026. I guess I'll take 8 teams over a longer period than expanding too fast and folding. Not sure there's a solution that's going to make everyone happy, but I see where you're coming from.
