Charles was a fucking fantastic champion, such a respectful fighter in an industry of loud mouth attention seekers. The way he dances around with the belt at the end is honestly just heartwarming.

@@user-ri3gh6yb5kbecause Charles never stopped moving while he was on the ground. Chandler got dropped twice and was still coming to his senses after the fight was stopped. This was a good stoppage.
Charles has to have his place in the hall of fame assured: More submissions than anyone else, victories over several monsters, a win streak of 11 and all of his last 5 fights have had that suspense that is difficult to describe without mentioning that each one of those fights have been some of the best ever seen in the sport.
Beautiful work by Michael Chandler in the first round. But Charles has so much heart.

you gotta love charles man. amazing fighter and such a humble man.
Even though we know the dangers of CTE, I would say that Charles had a dream UFC career. Couldn't break through for the longest time, eventually finds his rhythm, wins the belt and defended it multiple times. Each title defense (except Islam) he was in trouble early and always found a way to win.

Charles moving to lightweight might be like a top 10 weight-class change ever. He went from being a mediocre featherweight with a bit of a glass chin, to a top 4-3 lightweight all time.

@@lukepier9736 yeah I think it's Charles, Khabib, Penn and Edgar on my LW Mt. Rushmore. People forget how good frankie was at catching low kicks. It was masterful. Although I don't know if the last 2 i mentioned can compete with the newer generation, you've gotta look at how ahead of their competition they were. Can't wait for Charles v Islam 2 now that Islam got kind of exposed by Volk

@@lukepier9736 yeah fair. I would say Islam too but I consider them to really be one guy. I should have said Khabib/Islam, and then the rest I mentioned haha. Penn was so good too though. I would say besides Khabib he's the best lightweight and a top 10 UFC fighter of all time.

Look at Charles reaction when he's about to hear himself declared as a champion - pure emotion. Such tearfuly happy moments you only get once or twice in life, if you're lucky
I can't see McGregor having any chance of beating Chandler, but fair play to McGregor cos he'll talk himself up and boost the ratings for the fight.
The Charles Olivera era was amazing
