Around 3:45 , Chuck was right. Aspinall was on the 1st 2022 London card. He even headlined it and beat Volkov by straight armbar. Luke confused him by saying that that's when Aspinall fought Blaydes. Dead wrong for old Luke.

On Leon's popularity in the UK - I'm a British fan and NONE of the mainstream media are talking about this fight. They gave Bisping zero coverage as champ also. MMA is still very much a fringe sport over here.

Why doesn’t it get talked about that the last fight was way above sea level and a lot of fighters on that card gassed early including Leon and the fact that Leon mounted and took Usmans back in the first round stemming from a beautiful inside trip body lock?

Because elevation is a weak excuse when both fighters had equal time to prepare and fought at the same exact level. It's no difference than the "6 days notice" excuse Jorge hid behind, but we all know Usman doesn't need Elevation or short notice to drain guys in a fight. See Usman vs Leon 1 And Leon caught him dead to rights from a clinch, landed a trip and never won an exchange like that again, it's not a massive path to victory worthy of in-depth discussion.

So are we acting like “sea level Cain” was never a talking point? I get both fighters are fighting under the same circumstance but Leon hasn’t ever gassed that bad, he never won an exchange like that again yes but that comes in with the huge adrenaline dump from basically dominating a first round in a fight you were basically sent out to get slaughtered from a public’s point a view, then add in the elevation factor. All I said was it’s a little odd it’s never a talking point on a lot of these shows, not that he should win this fight solely because of that.

@Donny Adrenaline dump, from just holding a body lock? He didn't do any damage or get anywhere near a submission to warrant no Adrenaline dump. No one credible mentions any of those things because it's all delusions and disrespect to both guys. Be realistic, accept the fact that Usman is a strong wrestler who's best attribute is the ability to wear on guys and pull on their gas tank, and give Leon the full credit he deserves for pulling through and overcoming the difficult challenge against a tough opponent, he earned it.

​@@T33K4Y96Elevation is absolutely a relevant factor. It just is. Historically this has been clear and on that night it was also. It is one factor among many. I don't think it was likely the difference between Leon winning or losing that night though.

The travel food move on a long flight or train is chik fil a, still tastes great cold though bun gets a little wilted. But likely tougher to find outside of the usual stopover airports like Charlotte.

@16:00 Stadiums in London have football matches at the weekend, and UFC has nearly always been at the O2 so audience is trained to go there, and from a gate pov they can probably charge 3 x a stadium ticket price anyway at the O2...other than that good idea! ;)

What I think Americans might miss is the classism around Leon. It makes us sleep on him because talent is obvious and it's not as sexy as a guy like Till winning. Leon coming back from the impossible endears him to the UK much more than a dominant performance would. The whole world loves an underdog story but the class system makes the UK route for underdogs more than anywhere else.

The fact that leon took usman down and has had time to work on his wrestling. I really wanna see how this works out. I think he might see the own usman. Pure wrestling and get rid of the striking

Agreed. I think Gaethje is going to steamroll Fiziev. This will be a y'all must've fotgot moment. Fiziev's best win was an aging Rafael Dos Anjos. He's overhyped and not on Gaethje's level.

To me this fight favours Edwards and I'm quite baffled at the odds (1 to 3 almost). Here's why: 1. Edwards took everything Usman had for him. at no point did he appear to be really hurt. and he clearly didn't break. 2. It was clear that the elevation to got ALOT of fighters that night. Based on how Edwards looked and what he himself said, probably him as well. 3. He has very little pressure on him (for a champ) because everyone excepts him to loose. This also means he most likely feels he still has a lot to prove to the doubters. 4. Judging on the 1st round its evident that he can FOR SURE hang with Usman. 5. Usman is coming off a KO AND this is basically it for him, if he looses here what will he do? go back in line and fight contenders until Edwards looses the title? highly unlikely. 6. Edwards has home court advantage (not that I think the crowd is gonna play a factor but he doesn't have to travel during weight cut et.c. et.c.) Thoughts?

I’m not sure how usman is still seemingly in prime at 36 and loses so much weight for the division. Dude fights like he’s 35 yr old in a 25 yr olds body

Usmans personality is no better then Leon's, its not like he has all this charisma I'd argue that Leon has more, he doesn't have an accent and helps him get over a little easier.

The ticket prices for UFC London are outrageous.. I think only second to the super bowl world wide over the last few years. 🤦

Last fight I flew to was mcgregor diaz 1, pricey ish but not bad. I can't get over the London cards price! The card is not great either.

other than the daft t-shirts Luke & Brian have they look like early 80's West Ham IFC hoolies.

The Jamaica thing with Leon is not a big deal in the UK coz there was a large immigration from The West Indies in the 60s and 70s and its very integrated communities now and the black and white race thing (Not for the want of trying by the MSM) is not a big problem in the UK. Brits will be supporting him, whether he has a dual allegiance or not.

Luke Thomas, you retweeted a journalist from Claro Sports, named Rodrigo Del Campo Gonzalez who claimed his sources tell him Anatoly Malykhin vs Arjan Bhullar has been canceled and Rodtang vs Superlek is now the main event. ONE has not confirmed this. I see nothing about this on SCMP MMA, which is the leader in ONE coverage. Noone I've reached out to has heard anything about this. We need a follow-up on this story.

I think it's a great card, for me the only way it could be better would be adding Aspinal and possibly Allen, I'm British and I am NOT interested in watching Paddy or Molly on a main card specially one I have to pay for.

That’s not true at all Look at how popular Anthony Joshua, Frank Bruno, David Haye, Johnny Nelson, Amir Khan, Lennox Lewis, etc were in boxing. It’s not just due to race that Leon wasn’t as hyped. There’s many factors. One major factor is the speed of their rise. Till got lots of hype, cause he ascended the division fast, got a good push, came at the right time. Leon has spent years forming into the talent he is now, and was slower to climb the ranks, which in turn means less “hype”
