That's typically how it goes. Get the belt and then they ALL will want it. Khamzat will be the same way...... right now it's just too much risk and not enough reward. But once they have the belt there is actually a reward that warrants the risk.

Of course he respects Oliveira. He wasn't able to finish him without clocking him. And the only takedown he was able to accomplish was a counter. He literally fell to his knees twice while trying to take him down.

Whatever the outcome is in this fight, I'm not going to be happy. I have so much respect for both of these men, but if they both go out there and put in all they have, then you have to acknowledge the winner at the end of the day as the number one in the world right now, and it will change MMA for years to come.

If Volk, wins, it definitely does because you've got a new double champ, a new LW champ, which changes everything at LW and completely slows down this idea of Dagestani wrestling from the Khabib line as being an unstoppable train for years to come. If Volk loses, I'd say not as much changes, but then it just bolsters the Dagestani narrative.

Gotta give props to the interviewer they were really good questions.
These guys are breed different. They live in remote areas, minimalist. All they do is train eat and pray, fighting is part of their culture. Spartan-like. And Islam is a big 155lbs. He's probably 175 hydrated and his natural weight. I've completed in Judo, and that jump of weight from a the 62kg class guy to a 73kg guy, you can feel the strength difference. And they're way bigger. I think Islam has this one.

I was a black belt competitor in my younger days and I know who I can or cannot beat in a tournament just by looking at their fights. Same with Islam, if he says he can beat Volk, I believe him.

I so agree with u. I just watched Volk's training camp. All he does is do takedown defense on single or double leg. I doubt Islam will use this. Islam does 5, 6 or 7 different types of Judo trips & he's gonna mix that set-ups all the time which will mentally drain Volk.

A lot of Khabib takedowns were trips !!! . They have the same style . Push against cage with relentless pressure . Then proceed to take them down. The trips are perfect for taking down a shorter guy . What you talking about ??!

@@jttoe3424 I like volk and fair play for taking this fight . Yet I can’t see a way he wins . He doesn’t have knockout power . His ground game is not as advanced , nor his takedown offence or defence. To me it’s another masterclass from Islam

It would be more intimidating to fight a guy like Makhachev with his calm demeanor then someone like McGregor who constantly talks and gets in your face. Nothing rattles Makhachev and by that you know he is extremely confident I his abilities.
