Did you Nganou on Mike Tyson podcast? Might change how you feel about him. He said he was mad Herb Dean got in quick to save Stipe. Which Francis already got one extra punch in on an unconscious Stipe as it was, but he wanted to punch him more while he lay unconscious. I mean when it’s adrenaline and the heat of the moment and fighters go for more punches on a clearly unconscious opponent it’s one thing. But to weeks after the fight say that is shitty. No he said that Francis went too hard in sparring. You expect your sparring partner to go relatively easy. So when Francis went harder than you should do in sparring he was surprised and annoyed by it so he quit sparring with Ngannou.

In contact sport, even in the small dojos, from the white belt, one of the first lessons in sparring to assimilate is never to show your opponent your pain and fear. The good kid Ciryl has just taken off his pants here by clearly showing that the pain of this sparring is still mental and that the power of Ngannou scared him to the point of running away from him in this sparring. the sparring of this time between these two fighters, featured a Francis already known for his power and a Ciryl unknown to the general public who wanted to measure himself against this Francis in full rise in power. At this stage you do everything to be up to it, even show your teeth longer in this sparring which is also filmed, but you can't run away and then show bits or clips of video to the world to communicate and then saying ''you hurt me'' like that. it's not serious, it's not intelligent, it's not professional. During the fight Ngannou will come neither for sparring nor to retain his power. that's for sure. Francis doesn't have to be nice at this point. At all.

Honestly I can’t stand how some of the press will talk about there being no bad blood and then immediately ask about who’s lying about the sparring session, deliberately trying to fuel a beef. I respect and like both these fighters and like the fact they don’t feel the need to start drama to sell ppv’s. This has thr makings of a great heavyweight fight

Dude, it’s a press conference for a heavyweight title fight. Nothing wrong with a bit of bad blood (even though the press is reaching). Both of the fighters are professional and know it’s a part of the game. It’s not that dramatic. They probably don’t even take it that seriously.

They definitely have mutual respect and I definitely feel like they were at the very least somewhat friends. I mean from a combat sport perspective, you spar with someone you train with them it’s hard not to have respect and be somewhat cordial or friends. But not what the media is making it out to be lmao like a break up

Crazy watching this now and they just had a UFC fight night in France with ciryl Gane and tai tuivasa

I think what happened was Cyril got hit by the head kick, maybe he got wobbled, maybe not. I think the coach probably told them it was a bad idea to spar hard and if Cyril was tired he just called it a day. Perhaps Francis treated it as Cyril quitting. It’s also possible Francis upped the severity because the tape from Cyril’s camp got released that makes him look bad.

Not really. When Cyril got hit after he repeatedly told Francis that he was taking sparring too seriously, Lopez thought it was safer to call it a day. Otherwise, the training could have turned into street fighting.

yeah, what is clear from this exchange is that Ciryl wasnt knocked out as Francis originally stated, there was defineltely some backpedalling when Cyril confronted NGanou about it.
