Anderson Silva was a broken man. He could probably see himself in Israel Adesanya. He knew he was staring at a younger version of himself. Both great fighters.

You can tell the connection between Adesanya and Anderson. The story that they're portraying. Anderson being faced with his age and imminent retirement to a sport he'd dedicated his life to, and Adesanya watching his hero grow old and having to retire him. It's truly touching to imagine their experience.

This moment is just incredible. Silva literally passed the torch to Izzie and everyone can just see that’s what this fight meant symbolically. It was the transition to a new era and I cried at the end of that fight because of what it meant. I wish that The Spider would have retired from MMA immediately after this fight but he went on to take two more losses, both of which were finishes, by lower caliber opponents than Israel.
Anderson just had a staredown with the next generation of himself. If that's not incredible to an individual who has been in the sport as long as him idk what is.

Wow this was a rare gem of an Mma moment. Silva realizes that if he loses it’s his last fight, He sees this young killer and knows what a challenge is in front of him and realizes it may be the passing of the guard to a new generation. Israel knows it too and he doesn’t wanna end his hero’s career but he knows this has to be done to get him to the top. Bittersweet for both guys. Nothing but mad respect in the passing of the torch.
Incredible moment for both fighters, Silva kwowing that he was passing the torch to Adesanya. On top of that, (and for the ones who watched Naruto), at the face off, Adesanya posed as Rock Lee while Silva crossed his arms, just like Gaara does it.
Wow! What an emotional moment. I almost started crying too lol. Israel couldn’t hide his emotions either which goes to show how much respect he has for Anderson as well. Can’t wait for this!

Adesayna was legit gonna cry my gosh. Awesome sport honestly he knew he was sending off the goat and taking his place and that hit his heart.
I remember back in the day when everyone thought Anderson might retire after his contract was up, he shocked the community by signing I think an 8 fight deal which was unheard of... especially for a veteran. Most fighters go by 3 or 4 fight contacts. He later snapped his leg in half and everyone thought surely that was retirement. But he's still here. Amazing.

Unfortunately a Great doesn't knows when to quit.
This was by far the rawest, most real moments at a weigh in ever. The Legend, breaking down probably thinking about the journey, knowing that the clock is ticking and that he is close to the end - and Adesanya, the young superstar ready to take the mantle knowing that in order to do so, he needs to put his idol down in the process. Both men showed the reality of combat sports and the emotional battles that fighters experience. It's sad, but beautiful at the same time.
